    Default Poor with taxes/trade traits?

So I had 2 recently come of age family members begin their education in the capital. I had some elderly generals with the tax farmer ancillary(-1 popularity, +10% tax). I gave one tax farmer each to the governors-in-training so I didn't lose them through the old guys dying.

Both of the young guys got bad traits regarding trade and taxes. Like so bad that I hesitate to even let them live.

Did giving them the taxman ancillary cause this or was it a coincidence?

if I'm right those bad trait didn't ocour randomly...fist of all your "recently come of age family members" must spend some time learning and preapring for the Military/Governator Path ....so you must keep them in a city/castel until the age of 21 when thei are ready...then you can take them and place them near a more experienced General to improve the new ones...after they finish their training in the city/castel thei will be able to take the traits from someone else with no bad benefits...
Your bad traits that your 2 Generals gain is because they weren't educate...and they didn't know what to do with those traits because they haven't any Military or Governant Education ....

Other thing that cause this can be the bad traits "geneticaly" taken from their parents....Is a bad choice to take a Military General Son and give him Governal Training , Education and Traits....and vice versa....

    added later.......

So I had 2 recently come of age family members begin their education in the capital. You must let them finish their education ...then you can give them traits and train them near a more experienced General.....

    Thanks for the reply.

I should clarify, the capital is a city with a Scholarium, therefore I was training them to be Governors.

But I think you nailed it when you said they get these bad traits because their fathers were generals.

as long as a General STAYS in a city he is and he will develop to become a better Governor....
If you move him around the map...and make him take part of battles he isn't a Governor anymore...he is a Military General with Governamental skills...and he will develop to become a better Military General...if he have children...they will take some of his father skills/traits ... and because your general have governor skills and military skill...his sons(your new generals) will take them randomly...they will take only military...only governal skills/traits or both of them...or they will take the bad traits ....
You can easely figure out how your generals will develop (military or governamental) by taking a look at their Icon...right under his number that reprezents how many bodyguards he has with him there must be 2 things
1- A Steel Star - that means that every action he take will develop him to become a better/worst Military General
1- A papirus Scroll - he will be a Governator...and will develop himself ro become a better one....

NOTE (not tested with DLV) : A general that is a governator of a Castel he will develop himself to become a better governator...but also he can develop to become a better Field Commander...so he will tend to be a Fighting Governator ....he will gain traits that reduce the training of troops....traits that will give morale to troops on the battlefield and other more....but a General that is a Governor of a city he will only develop to become a better GOVERNATOR by gaining traits that increase the income or the happines/order of a city ... he will somehow gain some traits like a governator of a castel if you use the city to recruit lots of units....
