Should I go back to RTW?

I have been playing MTW2 for quite some time now, and have see it all in RTW, but I miss it terribly but I am afraid that the low graphics or small things might make me completley lose interest in it...Have any of you gone back to RTW? And would you reccomend it?

Definitely! And if you want nice shiny graphics, try out a RTW mod like RTR, EB, or Roma Surrectum.

For graphics and more little things (as well as big things) play some mods.

I went back to RTW few days ago, didn't play any game for so long. I went back by teaching my little sis how to play a game and believe it or not I spent whole day yesterday playing that game.

What a time I could spend doing nothing !! aaaahhh!!

You should never leave.

But, like others have said, adding mods totally renews Rome. I first started with Total Realism and was amazed at the scale of the map and number of cities! Once I finished RTR, I moved to Surrectum and was awed by the updated graphics and new factions.

I've also heard there's a Silmarillion mod, but I haven't tried it.

Did you play the official Barbarian Invasion expansion? You could also try the Alexander expansion.

I've got Rome and Barbarian Invasion with the XGM mod and no free time to show for it. I wouldnt have it any other way! Next up is Alexander.

I bought Total War Eras, which has all of the expansion packs and updated patches

. Don't know how to find out what maps and factions included in mods nor I have tried them before.

I also have barbarian invasion, Played it just yesterday anddddddddddddd

What I have to conclude is this....the game is just overall better....

BUT I cant get over how the actual battle terrain is just so lacking I couldn't get over it....ALthough thats a minor setback I downloaded most of teh mentioned mods, and seeing new factions and skins "reignited the flame" ahahahaha I'm going to spend the next few days back on this game and see if it wears off?

Just wait for RS2, the battle terrain is better than that of Medieval 2

You will get used to the low graphics again. I played RTW till i dropt. Bought M2TW played it for 2 months played for an other 2 months the mod SS and whent back to RTW and i am still playing RTW SPQR mod. Don' t think i will ever lose complete intrest in RTW becous it seems i always fall back to SPQR.

I was in the same boat you are in now. And while I've had some serious fun playing Kingdoms with its various mods, there's something about the classical age that I find incredibly fun.

In my experience, the best mod to date for RTW is Res Gestae. It's a fully re-done grand campaign map that re-skins all the units, makes the campaign map gigantic, and even preserves the ahistorical (but very fun) Roman Civil War.
