EB won't even start to install.

Hi guys, I have this curious problem.

I've installed RTW (CLEAN) all the way up to 1.5 and when I clicked the EB1.1.exe to install, it it won't start up at all.

Mind you, its not a corrupt download since it installed in my other PC.

I am running on Vista, so i am not sure if that has something to do with it.

Plus, my specs are more than enough run EB.

I get a message that says, "ShellexecuteEX failed; code 112" "There is not enough space on disk despite installing on a hard drive FULL OF SPACE!

Tough one. I don't have Vista, sometimes I'm glad I don't have it. Regardless, the application should install, if its telling you that you don't have enough space maybe thats the place to start. Double check the download, redownload it, and double check your space (Re install something big like RTW).

If you do a search for that error code, you come up with some interesting hits, for instance the "Fix 112 Errors 100% guaranteed", which leads me to believe that your Vista is configured or otherwise maligned.

One more thing, do a search on the internet for that specific code error, you may see something I didn't.

I don't think this is the problem but I'll ask anyways...
Does your Windows user name contain any non-standard-Roman characters?

I've had the problem with the installer not working too, although I didn't get the error message. This is how I got it to work.
FIRST:

Try right clicking on the executable and select "run as administrator"

if this does not work:

1. Hit the start button, type "cmd" (without quotes), do NOT hit enter
2. right click, select "run as administrator"
3.accept any UAC prompt
4. type "cd c:\users\yourname\downloads\" (No quotes. This is an example, however. If you saved it in a different location it must be changed accordingly.)
5.type EB1.1.exe or whatever you named the file
6. It SHOULD work

A bit of a thread necro but it was the only one i saw with my problem. i was able to narrow down the cause of the hangup when trying to start the EB1.1 installer. Its the microsoft security essentials anti-malware executable doing its voodoo when trying to open it. i simply disabled it and it started and installed perfectly.

EB1.2 installer was not affected by this
