    Default A Long Pause....

    Hello,

I've been playing Stainless Steel for awhile and have always loved it but I have a concern/question about the newest version 6.1

Has anyone else experienced incredibly long wait times between turns?

Every time I'm done with a turn and give the AI it's shot it takes a significantly longer time than what you experience in vanilla M2TW or any other mod I've played.

Now realistically speaking this span of time is only about 20 - 30 seconds but when compared to the usual amount of time (10 seconds) its enough of a difference to tell.

Thats the deal across the board. Its not to slow at first but in later turns can bog down. Its because of the garrison script i believe. There is a mod that disables it: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=165749.

I personally wouldn't do it since it affects gameplay. Hope this helps~

What are your specs? I recently got a new CPU and my turn speeds are way faster (Upgraded from an 1.80 dual to a 3.0 dual)

    @Belisarius
That mod didn't help AT ALL...it actually made each turn slower...

Seriously though, am I the only person having this problem or what? And I've never had to wait this long before using the same specs and settings for vanilla M2TW or with other mods. And to make sure it's not the settings I shot them down all the way to low and still had the exact same problem

If not "follow th AI movement" and turn off "shadows in campaign map" your turn time will decrease a lot.Problem is not how much AI do in their turn but how much your CPU need to solve this operation and your grafic card to render it.

I never use the "show AI movement" option and I turned off the shadows on the campaign map, it was actually slower this time around.

I don't get it, I can run vanilla M2TW on high settings and only get lag during the bigger battles and I've never encountered this before. Is there anything major (that would have this effect) that the Stainless Steel team has done from previous versions to this one?

First the SS team add more faction, more units, new textures, weather phenomena, more regions. Is only 2 gigas when you download SS so is quite imposible to compare vanilla with SS.Is like panzer 3 and king tiger tanks comparison.Yes a 25 tons tank is ok with 400 hp engine but can't do same for 70 tons of Tiger2.Is the same thing here your CPU, grafic card and RAM memory can deal with vanilla but SS is a big broder of CA child.

Turns are insanely slow for me too. I think it's because there are so many factions. Kind of sucks because my favorite mod is SS and the submods like SSTC, RR and RC, but the slow turns are a real turn off. The only way to get super fast turns is if you play the smaller campaigns like 100 Years War and Italian City States.

I'm finding turn times a little slow too, but it's a good time to visit the loo, grab a coffee, briefly communicate with my girlfriend and attempt to convince her that her, and not the computer, is no 1 to me, and back to the game! Patience, my son, patience.

    Brother,
use the time in between turn to worship King Kong and that he gave us such a grat mod and pray for the release of SS 7.

The wait time has given me enough time to memorize all the factions in order of when they take their turns.
    Men plan.
