    Default My new best victory

    This is the story:

First time on RTW : BI
    Got it for christmas
Liked the look of the Saxons so I started a campaign as them
Had a good time and took the baltic shores, Campus Frisii and Vicus Franki
Decided to turn off FOW to see where the Frank hordes had been for 20 years - they had just sacked rome
As I was about to turn it off, I saw a Goth horde - 4 full armies - that had clearly sacked cities form the outhwest of france to the north east - they were headed for me !
I took an army of about 380 men outside when they arrived and killed one army by making a shield wall on the edge of the battlefield and then quite a lot of another - you can see that one of their armies has about 300 men, not 900 men .
Those who fled routed back inside - 48 men.
You can see about 1/2 of their dead - by the gate, burnt to death.
Another 1/4 or 1/3 was shot whilst going around the walls / sitting there
The rest were either sandwiched on both sides as they came up seige towers or chopped as they came through the gate - only 1 person at a time could get through and they rarely did as the battering ram, strangely untouched by the flaming oil, blocked the way

    So i won a battle where I was outnumbered almost 50 - 1. That's 50 - 1. Whereas @ Gaugamela, Alexander was outnumbered 22 - 1.

Haha i like it, something similar happened to me on RTR mod and i were the greeks defending a gate way with a phalanx against a stupid number of enemies. they charged the elephants in first and my spear men made quick work of them, one ran amok and got stuck in the gateway killing about 3000 of their men trying to get through the gate - it was amazing

My personal favorite victory happened to me as Scythia. The numbers were pretty much equal at about 2000 troops each side (both sides being pure cavalry since it was early stages). Their general decided to charge straight at my line so I laughed and launched 300 heavy cavalry at about 50-60 of him. My arrows from 1700 HA took him pretty much out just before my heavy cavalry smashed in and finished. Then the battle went on quickly to all my units advancing and ripping apart the enemy with arrows right before a heavy cavalry charge tore through all their early light cavalry. In the end the stats said they killed somewhere between 10-15 units but my own casualty count tallied up to around 100. So... I lost about ten times more troops to friendly fire than to actual enemies. I thought it was very amusing.

And of course to save my pride, I quit that campaign a bit later cause it just grew boring waiting outside cities for multiple turns till they sallied then slaughtering them as they left the gates with thousands of HA firing at them. And field battles were just brutal. Pure butchery.

What do you mean the quickest? Quickest campaign? I have pictures of other campaigns that are earlier.

Hello, I wasn't being sarcastic nor I had any cheats going on (I hate cheaters and if I believe that if you need to cheat then might as well not play the game!!). I attacked Gauls first and made alliances with rest of factions like Germinia, Britania, Dacia, Spain, Carthage, Greeks.

I moved my Hastasi and Horses to every city which I attacked. I believe they both are enough to crush any army.

Though later Germinia broke the treaty and Dacia tried to attack on my city. I started attacking them. My goal was to get 15 cities and get rid of Gaul as soon as possible. (I played the Short campaign 15 cities - get rid of Gaul.)

This can be possible if you start off by making Faming and Roads and ship yards in each city you conqure. Common sense tells us, first make the source for money and then build armies. THat is what I followed.

This was the fastest campaign I have finished (recently played - played after quite a long time).

I would love to see your victories SonOfAlexander .

243 is perfectly possible. I can't remember the exact date, but Severous did a Celt campaign (BI) in something like 40 turns...

Hey it wasnt me that said it lol. Completing campaigns quickly is boring though. I like to play as Armenia, take Colchis then defend throughout the campaign. Which can often mean fighting 3 stacks of Seleucids.
