    Default Pretenders

Is it possible to script a way for one group to support a pretender in a different kingdom? This is a MAJOR tactic in East-Central and Southeastern Europe. Possibly within the diplomacy scripts, as a way to suborn somebody already in rebellion?

It's a step short of open war, but certainly keeps folks on their toes.

This is actually a REALLY good idea, have you taken it up with Azim? Anyways, can you give me more info on this; seems like an interesting topic.

Would be rather interesting, Having your army represent rebels or another kingdom, there for starting a war between 2 other factions. (the possibilities of a hotseat with that, O_o)

perhaps script a simple cash payment to raise an appropriately sized rebel army in an enemy province that actively fights the owner of the region.

And it could become under your control if the rebels took over it for one turn.:hmmm:

also you could add something like the privateers in Civs. the privateers were units you could use to attack other civs ships without declaring war. Maybe that could be done in in M2TW in regards to ships.

Also the mercs could be used to attack other factions without declaring war (unless the mercs were captured and interogatted into telling who hired them)

That sounds like a good idea, but too difficult to implement, I think.

Good one, but it might be even better to instigate between two factions such as France and the HRE.

or since the civil war feature has been brought back you could offer your financial aid to the rebelious noble prior to the revolt. Personally, i could see a rebelious noble going to get foreign aid prior to his revolt to better his cause. Also if he wins he would really owe you one so you could in a way keep tabs on the new rebel group...just a suggestion

    nice too

as the German kings tended to crown their faction heis as "Mitkönig" (co-king) (maybe use that as a title) the other sons (real sons - no adoptions !) could become jealous, this would count especially if you preferred the 2nd or 3rd son making the first born become rebellios. depending on his traits of course

and more or less provinces and generals can support this depending on their animosity towards the different persons
now if that could be done the HRE would be occupied with itself unless it had a strong king...

All captains of pretender units MUST be named Jared. IT IS IMPERATIVE.

I play: Third Age, Broken Crescent, Stainless Steel
I wait for: Broken Crescent 1.5, The Last Kingdom, Dominion of the Sword

Did anyone here played Knights of honor?
it's i think from 2004 and it's baisicly like Medieval 2 but in real time.
In this game you have knights that you can assigen them roles like a general, priest, landlord, spy etc.
the spys there work in a very cool way:
you assigen them a faction to watch, and they are unactive until that faction buys a knight, when they do, there is a chance that the knight will be your spy!
the other faction uses it how they want, but you have options for him to do cool stuff by the role the other faction gave him.
a general could disband his army, a spy could assasanit the king and the like.

i dont know if the medieval 2 game engine is capable for it, but if it is it would be awsome.

hmm... maybe i got the wrong immpresion of a "Pretender" but, well XD

Sounds like a really good concept, but unfortunately I don't think the medieval engine is capable of such a system.
