Any tips for Russia?

The way I see it Russia is a late period super power, but first um
you have to yea SURVIVE!!! With their sucky place on the map and
mongols and timurids like am i the only freaking one who like notces
this!!?? Ofcourse not,....so you guys got any tips THAT I DON'T ALREADY
KNOW!!! Like how to make fighting mongols and timurids easier.I figured
just get alot of heavy cavelry,mounted archers, and heavy infantry
obviously, but i can't get all that with Poland and Hungary adding
to something i hate the most in m2tw,........A two faced war meaning
i have to split my forces in half to protect both borders.I can't possibly
raise 8 full stacks of expensive units with the small amount of settlements
i'm givin and i don't see it fit to engage Poland or Hungary until I deal
with the Mongols.

So please guys HELP!!!!!!

dude.....i already invaded Denmark their not a problem but if i loose
the east to the mongols or timurids ill loose most of my income and homeland to extermination and yes demobilizing is a problem for me.

Now back to the discussion of the Mongols I CAN't let them get
A homeland man or it will really suck . My current progress is logic that
my homeland is undefended.Or atleast compared to Scandinavia.
As your first post suggested Viking Prince suggested Poland,Hungary,
and HRE will double cross me soon but i could just migrate to England.
You know just get it over with, but you know i'm not scared of defending my homeland back in Sarkel and such; i'm scared of when they get A
homeland.

Pinky if i sack the three cities like Budapest and Keiv Hungary and
Poland are allied so either i fight both or non.I have two problems.
1 I need A prime continuous money source because sacking provides A
small single payment. The Mongols will be here in about 40 turns thats
not long to prepare and money tips? Or how i'll raise 8 good stacks
of cavelry and archers in 30 turns? (-10 for traveling to the region they'll
arive)........

Rebel do Russia have any stake archers if you know what i'm saying.
But yea block the entrances with cavelry bonus spearmen....but don't
forget the have heavy infantry and seige wepons too,...so it's going
to be hard to pin point exactly where to place stakes. (not to mention
it's gonna be hard to put archers on the walls with them in pieces.

Defend your cities with archer and spear militia try to bottletrap them in your gates with your spearmen and have your archers shoot them, yes you will get friendly fire but still by traping them between your spears and gates they will lose moral

Well it should be pretty easy I wouldnt destroy poland just take thorn, haylnch, and the cap. Poland will probally take stettin and hamburger which will act as a board for the HRE they wont come past and poland wont have the juice to do any major damage. once you take keiv build a port and set sail for constipole. Once you get that you should be able to make the money to fight a pretty big war. Make a good army at haylnhc and go straight for bran once you take that it should be easy enough to finish of hungary. I wouldnt move to much outta constitople since it the 2nd best city. vience will shortly but vience is easy mode as russia all you need a horse archers. Youll have alot to deal with but with bran and the 3 cities youll be able to make any troop you want by the time the monols come

kk so I figure The biggest money makers (correct me if i'm wrong) atleast
to my experiance is the baltic trade like Arhus to the british isles is A good
4-5k. And the black sea (wich helps in my case) is Very good money.
I heard A rumor from another thread that the #1 income city is Antioch
at it's fullest is 16k per turn! So as long as I keep full stacks in my cities
like Voulge and Sarkel. But seriously guys does Russia have any archers
with stake ability? So i can blockade the gate killing their cavelry.........

Here are the cities that usually makes good money

I will start with the landlocked best city as in Vienna, after you have builded the 2nd level of mines and paved road this city can make around 7500k per turn, which is great for a landlock city

Then the sea cities:and the flroins I have already made with them

Antioch 12 000k
Arthus 7000 k
Stockholm 8000k
Constantinople 10000k
Venice 8000k
Brudges 6000k

I'am maybe forgetting one or two here but theses are probably the best cities in the game for making money

Well good to know thier all spread out instead of all in one area you
know so you wouldn't have to migrate every campaign. I'v found the best
Cities are bordering the sea because sea trade can equal up to 1/3 of the
income. Black sea trade is very important to me when i'm playing in the East; When i'm playing in the West I usually always migrate to England
unless i'm Sicily, HRE, or France because their in A good expanding position; or just are too far away, because Arhus is the trade capital of
Western Europe.

I'ts good to know that we all get that A good military comes from A
good foundation; A good foundation means A stable economy; A stable
economy comes from agriculture; and agriculture is made by people in
settlements so the more settlements you have the bigger and better your
military. If you just go outside and ask someone most people are too dumb to even know a war isn't just people shooting each other it's about
tactics and this game teaches you about this stuff; you just gotta convert it from medieval times to modern times for when I join the military
for example. But I was wondering Is there a mod for A trade route to
Europe from America?....if so could someone give me the link because gold
is worth like 5x more in Europe than America.

Expand immediately. Get a military stronghold (castle) and there recruit your best troops and put them througout your armies.

Thats pretty obvious but you only need 1 because you need cities
to support your upkeep.....

Actually I usually find that Vilnius works well until Poland and Hungary are eliminated. Bran is a very good jump off for the rest of the Balkans. If I get Thorn without a fight, I usually upgrade in a manner that does not waste too much effort before conversion to a city, but I hold off untill the threat from Poland is eliminated. Ryazan is usually kept in the east since I go no further until after the Mongols come.

The eastern map is really spread out and castles are needed close enough to the fronts. I do not keep a ratio of castles to cities but try to focus on regional production centers. This means more castles per cities than western europe by a bit.

This is true; When settlements are spread further apart especially before the mongols and timurids arrive you can use the land map to your advantage like the rivers that flow into the Black sea can be used as barriers to place forts for temporary defence so use the map to your advantage to wear the mongols down before they reach A settlement.


Especially use the forts as guide lines to lead armies into traps like
trees as an ambush, or use generals with night attack abilities
to pick off the whord stacks seperately.

Rebel6666 has a good point for all factions (not just Russia, not just against the Mongols) when bginning a war. Try to take out several settllements at one time and you will cripple to opposition. This is really important when taking on a Catjolic faction as a Catholic faction. Why take the risk of four hits from the Pope when you can take one warning?
