Default Irish Knights and General's Bodyguard Upkeep.

    1. How come there are no knights for ireland? I remember reading about many orders that were loyal to Irish lords. You may say that Ireland has the the kick-ass Muire and Lord's Retinue, but they cost almost a 1000 florins and could just get another general's bodyguard unit at a Baron's stables. I'd like cheaper feudal varieties to have.

    2. It sucks to pay 525 florins each turn to keep even the stupidest family member or king alive. Is there a way to get rid of this?

    1. I know that the unit limit for the game (in version 6.1) has been reached, so in order to add knights for ireland, something else will have to go.

    2. Put him on a boat and send him off after Pirates.... no more stupid family member

Or you could just make the Irish able to train Feudal and Chivalric Knights...

They already have the skins for them(early body guard and its armor upgrade)

What version of Stainless Steel are you using?

    1. Get SSTC and then RR/RC 1.2. This adjust's many things. Including adding Ridire for Ireland, which are essentially Mailed Knights with maces.

    2. Same as 1. This adjusts many things, including the costs of upkeep on things like general's bodyguard. Mine are usually only about 150 per turn, the heir and king are about twice that...

Ireland just has their own knight units, Ridire and lord's retinue. They can also get templar knights.

I believe scotland has the same amount of knight units, mailed knights and feudal knights. the lord's retinue are better than feudal knights.

Its just fitting that they and also norway and denmark have fewer knight units, they make up for it with many other units.

Ireland really makes up for the "lack"(of variety) of cavalry with good archers and infantry

the plus side of Ireland not having many different units is that for instance when a cpu is playing ireland, its great to ally with them, because for the most part they will be able to save up money and then spend it on kik-ass units. ex. average stack of English cpu units= 1 row of complete garbage 1/2 a row of useless units and 1/2 a row of billmen and sometimes feudal knights
Avg stack of Irish cpu units (no joke 3 out of 4 times this is the case) - 1/2 a row of catherinde, 1/4 a row of Ostmen, 1/4 a row of Galgolaich, 1/3 a row of muire, 1/3 a row of Ridre, and 1/3 a row of Archers or Delsi Javelinmen

Ridre are great all-round cavalry, good enough charge to take on infantry plus an armour piercing weapon that makes them good at taking on other heavy cavalry units.

    1. Just add in mercenary knights to the ireland province in the mercenary file.

    2. Edit the unit file and set the upkeep to zero.
