Norway or Denmark?

I've pretty much played the piss out of the Teutonic Order in SS and now I am looking for a new northern Scandinavian faction to play with. As such, this leaves me with two options: Norway or Denmark.

I know they're pretty much the same, but what makes you want to play one over the other?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If i want to feel like im playing as more of a viking, piliging the British Isles attacking by navy and have a more secure homeland i go or Norway. Looking at Denmark however i tend to feel more...European and taking Hamburg gives you a great foothold in Europe to attack the Empire (HRE) from.

Overall i would say that i prefer Norway because there is alot of potential to snatch some rebel settlements and Norways high dread faction leader means that you can clean up those rebel army quite quickly

I agree. Norway is much cooler than Denmark. Plus you can have Hamburg as Norway...

Both suffer from skin problems though.

Norway is only partially reskinned, and I hate the yellow/blue reskinned units of Denmark. The remaining Danish units that dont suffer from a yellow/blue reskin look fantastic though.

The thing that bothers me the most about Denmark is the little red hearts in their symbol. I am making war here, not spreading love.

True, I'd wish someone would reskin the danish to red/white.

Come on Norway?Did you see their rooster?And starting settlements, come on.Ok some ppl hate yellow but let be fair raiding Scotland is not like lets eat some imperials.Danes got better troops, better starting points, better oportunities.Dont tell me an icelandic axeman can cover the units of Danemark.

Denmark isnt far enough north to be awesome. More north, more better.

And skrew raiding Scotland, raid Novogrod, and make for Kiev. Let the danes deal with HRE and France. Most of the HRE is made up of worthless castles anyway.

I've been playing as Norway. Turn 50 so far.
It's hard as hell to make money. Your settlements suck.
I've just been preying on weak nations. Denmark has been in a constant war with Poland, HRE, and Novgorod. So I took Arthus because it had a 3 man garrison.
Scotland is a pain in the ass. Keeps sending troops over and over.

I found this when I played as Norway. Better to play as Denmark, and can Norway in the first 50 turns, then look beyond Scandinavia.

both the unit rosters are about the same iirc, but norway has more challenging position. And their custom is red so its better .

Its really a shame that the game doesnt start a few hundred years earlier when they where still pagan vikings instead of pathedic minions of the pope.

you can still declear war on the pope and build you campiagns solemly on viking (era) units that would be a nice challenge:hmmm:

anyway I personally prefer denmark because for some reason I like bright
yellow and because I think denmark has the better starting position

Denmark is easier. I'm under 50 turns with Norway and Lithuania under my control. Called Crusades on Lithuania to build up my generals. Currently I am using spies to force Polish cities to repel and riot. Then I sweep in and take them from the rebels without going to war directly. The key is getting a high chivalry leader in Hamburg to get that Fortress up quick.
