Crossing Seas with armies

Hi i know this is a very simple question but i cant figure out how to get my armies from the coast of Europe over to Britain. I dont have an instruction manual so i cant look it up. Ive got a bireme blocking the port on the southern coast of Britain and ive got a port in my region right next to it but i cant move the army across. Do i need to put my army in a ship? If so what ship can i use and do i need a high level port to make that ship?

Im about to wipe out Britain (after smashing their rather large empire) but this is the only thing stopping me. Any help would be appreciated!!

1. Move the ship you want to transport your army to the coastline.
2. Select the army
3. Right click on the boats.
4. Move boats to the landing point (right click on the shore to disembark).

Any ship can carry 20 units (a full army) at one time.

we need aircrafts in this game...

No, boats are enough. Without the proper technology I doubt that aircraft would be anything more than suicide attacks.
