Default Questions of a "rookie" Stainless Steel user

I've been playing Stainless Steel for two days now but due to submod related crashes I'm currently reinstalling the game. I have several questions before I start my new campaign and was hoping to find the anwser here:

    1. Is it possible to change the turns/year without messing with anything ingame (i.e. units becoming available too early when using BGRIV or other historic events triggering too early) or messing up the AI? I'd like the game to have a much slower pace of 1 or 2 turns per year instead of the current rate (0,5 turn per year?)

    2. I've seen a topic in the XAI Kingdoms mod about people using XAI with SS, is this advisable (looking for the best and toughest game experience here) and can I use both BXAI as well a CXAI?

    3. Which submods would you guys recommend (or even non-sub mods that work well with SS)? I currently have downloaded and am planning on installing:

    - Stainless Steel
    - "Real Recruitment+Real Combat+CBUR+BFTB+BGRIV"
    - XAI (if possible and advisable)
    - Crimson Tide
    - Y&Y Visual Improvement Pack
    - Improved torch flame
    - Burning Men Effect
    - Faction leaders and generals battle and strategy skins
    - Knights Templar Minimod
    - King's Banner (this is not a sub mod, so not sure if it's compatible with SS?)

Thanks in advance for all the help, especially with the first two questions

Not really no. There are however a couple of submods that change the pace to 2 turns per year. Check 'em out in the SS submods forum.

If I remember rightly (and I admit I may be totally wrong on this), I think SS needs an AI tailored specifically for it because of all the new factions. Again I might be totally wrong on this. There are 3 other AIs for SS that I can think of off the top of my head that you can try. Lusted's, Gracul's and Byg's. Again, do a search in the submods forum.

As for submods, it really comes down to your personal taste and playstyle. If you like a bit more realism and a challenge, then go for RealRecruitment and Byg's Grim Reality mods. But these aren't everyone's cup of tea. There are several submods out there that update faction rosters which are worth checking out too...not that I'm biased or anything

    1. check the submod as Caesar Clivus stated

    2. For XCAI you will need to do some modding but I myself am using the battle AI(XBAI) right now
    and have great results

3.Don't now about compatibility but when I tried kings banner it did some very weard things to my SS

It's possible if you edit the events file accordingly. But it is much easier to use a sub mod as stated, that will also change hte movement and number of turns to make a nbuilding, etc.
