Technical Question - wrong spot maybe? but need help

I recently uninstalled RTW, so that I could re-install it, but I stopped it half way. I then finished removing it using the control panel, re-inserted the disc and tried to re-install. I get the error message:

An earlier version of Rome - Total War has been detected. Please uninstall this before installing Rome - Total War Gold Edition.

I have tried looking on my PC to see where I missed something, but I can't find it. Anybody know what I should do or where I can look.

I've seen this question crop up quite a bit, yet can never remember the solution for it . Go ask in the Technical Forums, where this should be.

I had this same problem a while back. Did the same as you, stopped it halfway. Anyway, here's the solution. http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic...TW-amp-BI.html

You need to manually uninstall the game. Just follow the instruction in the link.
