Default Bribing , Anyone have any success with this?

I cant figure out what the requirements are to have a successful bribe

Ive tried bribing every type of target with all kinds of Reputations and what have you.

In my mind the easiest target should be part of a faction your allied with have perfect relations with and you have a very good reputation but it seems just as impossible to bribe this kind of target as it is bribing king of scotland with an English diplomat.

I often get "almost accepted" but even if you bribe the next turn with 50k more florins than u had the first attemp they still dont accept hmmm

How are you bribing targets and how many florins do you require in the bank for it to be successfull?

I think bribing is broken in this game. I have never been able either. Even the puniest armies will not accept the most outrageous bribes.

I remember in RTW, it was easier. Not easy, just easier, or at least possible! Sometimes one would gain interesting generals by bribe. They weren't very loyal, but I remember once a Greek general I bribed went on to become my Brutii faction leader.

Can anyone else comfirm it broke?

I understand not being able to bribe loyal kings and generals but like you say not being able to even bribe tiny force with outrageous offers does make it seem a bit broken.

I too have noticed it being broken. I guess it's something the SS haven't looked at. That or it's hardcoded and can't be tweaked. Sure, princesses are a way of getting foreign men into your faction, but I miss being able to bribe irritating bandits into going away (or joining my faction).

The only success with bribing and this game that I've had is bribing my wife with a new pair of shoes when I got this game, and it worked because I got loads of game time afterwards

I - for my part - can say that bribing works quite good. But you have to have a very experienced diplomat (it helps if he has the traits "Secretive" or "Smooth Talker") and enought money. And - as in real life - some people cannot be bribed.

You need ridiculous amounts of money and a silver-tongued diplomat.

I've had very little luck with it. Should probably be a bit easier, and the diplomats skill should influence price more that chance of succes. If a general is in the stack the price should be higher and the chance of refusal increase dramatically if he is loyal.

Bribing is useless, I can never get it to work.

I was poking around and found this in the descr_campaign_db, anyone know if this will help increase the chances of a bribe, and if so, what should be changed?

A good diplomat no top guy bribed Bruges from rebels for 9000 florins (was atacked 1 time by frenches so garison was like a third of the garison initial), more than worth it, this happend yesterday in my scottish campaign with SS plus CBUR submod. At turn 65 i wanted to bribe some french units who stand in my crusader way.1 unit of armored sargent cost 900 florins.
In turn 30 I offer 40000 florins to HRE to buy Bologna. They wanted aliance and than agree.
So is posible to buy, bribe and use diplomats like a weapon.A very effective 1.You need a skilled diplomat and cash, a lot.Second thing is to have a good reputation, none wanna make busniess with you if you are a bad guy.Iportant thing is every bribe maded is an ascensinal hights, will cost more and more next unit bribed. The most rediculous price I ever receive like offer 400 000 florins for 2 generals ( no, no 10 stars generals or spectacular traits just standart inflationist AI generals).

they ask far too much money which makes it impossible and a useless feature.

i can never bribe a character, and half the time i can barely buy land off factions anyway. for example, i bought allepo off of the turks for 18k even though were brilliant allies. granted, it had pretty decent buildings but they wouldnt settle for anything less than the aforementioned price, and it hardly had any men in it. makes me dread to think how much buying off an army could cost....

Recently, there were a couple rebel settlements with about 5 unit garrisons that would agree to a bribe, but it cost too much and I could easily take over them by force. I think it is much easier to bribe a rebel than a faction.

    @Earende
thanks for those "stats" will try around and see wether I can find a "solution"

edit: I seem to have partially solved it. In my test runs i was able to bribe any army led by a captain as long as i had the money (paid like 9000 for half a stack will need to look into this some more) i was also able to bribe any
diplomat. ALL of the bribing was done by a
2 or 3 star diplomat. my file does not seem to work for settlements...yet:hmmm:
anyway I don't know how this affects generals. Don't know about
compatibility and save compatibility(I used SS 6.2 Rc2 as the base)
please give feedback so i can make this better earlier (this isn't even an alpha yet so some weard things might happen like being able to bribe an
extremely loyal general for not much money but I it hasn't lead to any
crashes yet) again please give me feedback (in my sub mod thread http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...26#post4174626)

bribing works to a degree, slowly changing stances with opposing factions. but any mistakes made against the bribed or bribed allys will quickly reverse all progress. Not worth it in my opinion unless you have massive income to waste at your whim.

Leave it to the modder to perfect the works of the paid developers for no profit at all.

best hope of successful bribe is whn the bribing faction has huge amounts of money and the ones being bribed haven't.

if you want to avoid having your armies etc bribed, keep a decent amount of money in the kitty.

the AI tries to keep 2-3000 florins at the end of each turn (or does when it runs the human economy) so you'll need large amounts to bribe the AI if it has a decent amount set aside.
