Default Wrath of the Norsemen (5th Preview Out Now)

Not sure weather we can create a thread here too but here go's.

I am pleased to annonce that Wrath of the Norsemen is no longer dead! We are now in the stages (once again) of Modding once more, our current goal is to get together a brand new preview which will get our forum back where it belongs and will hopefully up the number of fans.

As a little gift to show we are alive again we will also now show you a brand NEW unit created by the awesome Spartos.

    (this is not a preview)

Hope you don't mind I added it anyway Spartos

What are your thoughts on the campaign, time-frame, map size (original/resized map) etc - the same as it was before or you'll be changing/adding/removing something?

Are you aware of the changing of the map that was happening before the death?

Anyway this is the map area

Apart from that everything you know will remain. We are simply carrying on where they left off. Of course you can be sure of minor changes in the future.

Yes, I'm aware, that's why I put the "original/resized map" in the brackets.
And it's good you're going with the resized map, since it would be much easier and quicker to finish it than the original one. Though I don't remember if any actual progress was made on the map itself, so you'd probably need a mapper (among all other kinds of modders, of course). So good luck and success! I'll be waiting for the next preview!

Progress was made. Dansk Viking is doing the basic map (I think) but once thats done we will need a mapper for finishing touches. I've asked him if he can spare a few pictures soon so we can include them in the next preview.

Awesome map I wish I knew how to map. I've tried the tutorials but I always seem to screw up! I'll get it down sooner or later though, I also want to make a scandinavian mod. Right now I'm just adding Sweden to DLV, but in the future I plan to do a map like that, but have the gameplay mechanics stay true to DLV.

Edit: hehe, I saw one of your concept art images, so awesome I made it my avatar. Keep up the good work.

Very good news, I was wondering where this mod went.

    Had any progress been lost?

I think he means refering to lending their models and such, which is a good idea. It will make it easier in some areas and it will give you guys more to build on. You guys should be trying to get this done effectively and practically, and to make it less hard on yourselves.

So far nothing major has been lost but its safe to say we can expect something to be.

I have sent a PM to Danova a while ago but have had no reply however there are major differences between our mods and i'm worried about using units from the Last Kingdom. Instead we have recently done a deal with VLL for our mods to share certain work between each other but nothings certain yet.

Hey man. For me, this is THE mod. The quality of skinning great. Im also courios in what kind of history is really needed?
    -Unit description?
    -Buildings?
    -Demography?

    ...and for what faction?

    BL-W, norwegian viking.
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.
    - The pranks played on the knight Jean de Joinville, 1249, 7th crusade.
