general/captain stats?

Hey there just wondering it seems that general/captains always kill quite a few few even if they are in a weak unit. Are their status different from the rest of the unit and if so how would i find out as the data files don't seem to have anything on captains status. They would definitely have more armor and I'd image more attack than their troops if they were in a peasant/archer type unit. Thanks!

Hmmm, well I'm not sure about captains, but generals get extra hitpoints, which means that can usually withstand one or two killing blows that would normally kill one of their bodyguard. So basically they get extra "lives". I'm not sure if it applies to a captain though.

Both generals and captains get extra HP, generals get a bit more than captains plus/minus their triats. I don't know if they have separate stats from the unit they are in though...

I dont think Captain's trait affect them as far as surviving in concerned, although I'd be curious to know if they do indeed have mroe hitpoints? its hard to tell fr sure without the datafiles

They definitely have more HP... I don't think that's in question. A better question is do they have different attack/defense stats than the unit they're in.

Then I also wonder if they get bonus stats, attack and defence increases, or if they simply take over the stats from the unit they are in.

yes, its 100 % certain that generals and captains are stronger, i think generals are stronger then captains though, no matter what negative traits they get.. for example, an officer stands to the rear in a phalanx formation, the most vulnerable posision, so in rl their careers were'nt very long, but in this game, they are the last to die...

captains definitely are. put a captain in a unit of peasants and watch the melee they kill several enemies themselves and take a few hits before dying. Their lack of a shield woudl hamper them in melee however.

Yes Generals do have more hit points that captains and soldiers. However I believe the change it attack and armour and all that are like a +4 increase. Just like the difficulty bonus.
