vanilla= unmodded M2TW
Stainless steel= a mod which incorporates units from MTW2 and the Kingdoms expansion and is just generally rly good
i would recommend getting it but you need Kingdoms installed
search it im sure ull find. i think we're up to version 6.1 now but maybe a new one has come out

If you just want the Kingdoms .exe code and units in M2TW (with some rebalancing of stats) go with the Retrofit Mod. SS has a host of other modifications plus a larger map, more factions, new skins to the units, recruit and supply,etc.
If you are happy with M2TW and just want a bit of adjustment (call it the final patch if you like)--start with the Retrofit Mod. If more change is desired check out all of the mods, but SS is clearly the most popular on the forum.
