    btw... accordin to TheLeonidasExpedition website, the immortals crossed the entire Anopaia passage, in about 8 hours.... to make something similar on my map, the passage to be crossed entirely from the beginning to it's end (since the "gate"), needs about 10/15 minutes of marching.. i mean with normal speed setting in game and with units walkin instead of running, they can cross all the passage in 10/15 minutes of real time.. it's huge...i know... all the map's in huge! my girl always said: "bigger the better"

    i m playin that map (historical battle version, with random factions) with james horner "3200 years ago" on background... just to create atmosphere

    well i m resuming the work on the map.. i was busy in real life ehehe! i have also to finish better grass 1.0! damn !

    well.. maybe i could release a sort of beta... historical battle for now.. with 2 random vanilla factions... just to make u try the map.. dunno yet... historical battle map is 99% ready... in the meantime i m correcting custom battle version.. i m tryin to

    THERMOPYLAE BETA RELEASE!

    Warning: this is just a beta playable only as historical battle... i released this, so u can try the map and then tell me here, if u find bugs or whateva about the map...
    i chose 2 random factions: Byzantines and Turks for this test... once chose the map in game, u can choose to play with turks (attacking) or with Byzantines (defending position)....

    so please.. i ask u to take a look about bugs or imperfections of the map.. the battle is not scripted at all.. so enemies does not act as they should do (if u choose byzantines, wait 2 minutes and turks will attack u as a shockwave)

    This is how the map looks like from 500 metres and more of altitude... it incredibly huge as battle size square/dimension....
    well here below, i wrote persians and spartans.. but they arent there in game at all... When this map will be complete.. it could be useful for mods as EB (med2 version) or classic era ones (who has Spartans and Persians as factions)..





    this one below.. is a screen took in game... (u can see map dimensions on mini map/radar). byzantines spearmen are holding position on Thermopylae, against turkish infantry shockwave (as i said before.. i chose 2 random factions)



    README:

    - to play this map, you must have unpacked the game
    - Copy the folder Thermopylae_Beta (it's inside .rar pack) and paste it into:
    Medieval II Total War\data\world\maps\battle\custom
    - now enter the game, select historical battles and then Thermopylae_beta

    not now.. maybe in a future.. now i m prefer to edit landscapes or something like that

    dunno if u can install it on a mod.. it's been created with vanilla map editor.. maybe try... but not sure about the result (i dont have mods for med2.. so i dunno)

    A very accurate map (like tge one I saw in history channel..)+rep

    Agon could use it for a historical battle!

    ok man, I could have a look at the map, itīs amazing good job. I put it in Hegemon:battle for Greece mod, so I can play with greeks he he BUT!!! when I started a custom battle, 1 team appears on the top of a mountain so the factions canīt fight!!! and I canīt put my team in other part of the map or send they to fight because they canīt get down of the mountain...do you have a solution??

    ya it's the problem i was tryin to repair time ago.. in custom battle the map become very smaller than original.. i m tryin to see, if i can fix it with some scripts or editing

    when i created the map.. in historical battle it was totally perfect as u can see

    in custom battle.. i always noticed that it becomes very smaller and the layouts set in historical one, are all messed up (in fact as u well noticed, formations are in the top of mountain or in the deep close to water.. there's no deployment areas in custom battles (i watched vanilla default maps).. maybe i can force everything in there or i have to create a smaller version of the map (calculatin that historical one's been a incredibly huge work.. i dont remember how many hours i passed in there)...

    if i solve it via fix ok... otherwise i have to create a smaller version i think.. not sure.. gotta check.. or maybe u can use it only as historical one
