Enemies Won't Attack when sieging my cities

Hi everyone,
I got a problem, when the enemies start siege to my cities.. i just engage them in battle ..rather then let them starve my army out. When i engage them in battle with my army behing my walls they just wait outside the cities/castle... even though they got rams and ladders... they don't try to attack.. and pretty much wait for me to come out...???

How do i fix this?

when you are besieged and YOU attack, tehn YOU gotta go attack. you are falling out of the city, the enemies would just continue the siege. so you have to attack

If you sally forth to drive them away, you're set as the attacker and the enemy as the defender. Thus, they'll wait for you to make the offensive move, no matter the size of their army and wether they have siege weapons or not.
Bottom line: If you initiate the battle, you will have to be the one attacking.

Only sally if either a) you have the superior force or b) you have time limits on, otherwise you'll either lose or be stuck forever with no option but to attack. They really need to add bombardment damage to the sieges; every turn, based on archer/siege engine quantity + walls type, besieger and besieged should do automatic damage to each other. Would stop those bloody Hungarians from sending 3 units every turn to siege my 15 unit garrison in Vienna!
