Default Family Member Portraits + constructive criticism

Whenever adopting new family members the portraits revert to M2TW originals. I'm wondering if there's a way to set all portaits to a new, 17th-century-styled set. It would look more authentic. Helmets are so last century (mostly)

It also seems a little odd having government members roaming the map now although it certainly improved balance.

Another thing, the flags for units seem so solid and cardboard-like. Is there a way to make them flutter more gracefully like M2TWs?

Is it possible to mod pre-battle speeches? Because there is real potential to make that much more inspired than the predictable and bland ones in place. Selection sounds also have much potential

Having Very Hard being just a notch more difficult would be welcome, too. I'm winning fairly easily as Royalists and have most of England except the South-East and it's only mid 1643. It's challenging but not actually hard which is really what I was hoping for. This was a tough war for Charles and I really feel for him too. It must have been horrible to have the British monarch publicly executed. I can't imagine what that must have been like. On the other hand I have had some tense, close battles too (which is what makes it feel so epic )

I also approve of a prior suggestion to implement the militias on the basis of the public support level (holding 40%+ should be the requirement, otherwise it is more occupation than governence, really).

Disabling council missions would also be nice (if possible). They're not necessary in any way.

Other than that I am pretty impressed and for the Medieval 2 engine this is a fine mod. Working it to the Empire engine would be nice at some point and probably allow for more detail on things which are currently impossible.

Perhaps making more emphasis on traitors, turncoats and mutineers (including some naval element too) would also add to the tension and gritty, treacherous nature of civil war - and including having enemies ocassionally turn to you (if such a thing is possible).

Civil war also does bad things to the economy, when turn on one another and lawful and upright citizens sometimes turn to looting and hooligan behaviours, say. I know come civil war I would. Reflecting this through some damage to infrastructure in the most contested areas might show that (or suchlike). Civil, lawful society is not really known as a feature of civil war.

Probably much more, of course. This mod is wonderful (and so young!), but there is still much that can be done.

This has been covered quite a few times. Portraits in this period were painted with the subject in full armour. The helmets are outdated but were typical for the time. Painting new portraits is a slow laborious task so I didnt do it for colonels/adopted generals.

There's no fix for this I'm afraid. Other than MORE historical generals, this is the only options.

I tried to get it to animate with no luck.. If someone can do then they'll need to remake the flag model with 20 times more vertices, spending a few hours assigning verts to bones to get it to animate, and replacing the mesh in about 16 different mesh files.

Yep it's possible. Just have to have someone record them.

Difficulty just comes down to money available to the AI so just open up the campaign script and increase the AI's cash scripts

Impossible in MED2. This feature needs kingdoms.

I don't see why they are a problem? The King had a council, and Parliament was a form of council.

Thanks. I'm glad to see you're enjoying it.

but there is still much that can be done.
I produced this mod over about 2 months, so yes there is still much left to be done, however not by me, no time anymore.

    Cheers

Also I had a heretic show up and convert the population to heretic religion. Using the 'culture' system of Kingdoms might fix that. I assume it is not much harder to mod for kingdoms (although porting it over might be a pain)

Heretics are a serious nuisance in the mid-late game. Surely there is a way of disabling them or limiting them?
