Default To buy, or not to buy?

Basically I'm a Total War veteran and am very experienced in Rome: Total War. But a year ago I gave it away for some stupid reason.

Now I can never find online games for M2:Total War, it seems everyone is on Rome instead, and the online server is much more stable.

If I was to buy Rome it would cost me about £5 I think. But it would also be embarrassing, spending money on a game I had previously given away for free.

    Shall I buy it?

Well, 5 bucks for a classic game like this is almost nothing.

Consider that you can download the mods from this site for free, if you buy the original.

m2tw is buggy beyond belief. RTW isnt. RTW is revolutionary. M2tw isn't.

Kingdoms goes a long way to making up for the original however. A long LONG way. the 2handed bug isn't fixed however, tho many others are.

    Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Hell yeah! What are you waiting for? Why did you need to even ask that question? Go out right now and buy it!

I gave a game away (more like let someone borrow, and then I never heard from them again) but this game was Diablo II. When Diablo III was announced I wanted to play the game again...only to find out the whole game w/ expansion was something like $30.

In the grand scheme of things $30 for that game was something I was willing to pay.

Rome on the other hand I'd pay a lot more than $30 for it again and I may have to, my cds are getting rather old....

You should of kept your game installed and used a nocd patch, (Before you warn me yes Nocd is legal if you actually owned the original, its legal for the same reason that burning the game onto discs is, to protect the discs or to play without the disc o.0) or burn them onto discs, £5 im assuming thats around $8 is cheap for an awesome game such as RTW infact for around £10 you could probably buy rome total war collection,(original plus the 2 expansions)

I think I've bought Rome three times now, first time lost the cd, second it got scratched (I couldn't use a cd crack since mods don't like them), and I am now on my third. It hardly ever leaves the cd drive, and if it does, gets popped right into a cd album thingy. I amn't losing it agian.

Again, no mentioning cracks, against ToS. But, see every post above. The community is very much alive, there are loads of mods out right now, there are loads of new ones coming, so don't screw around. BUY THE GAME!!!

If you're not sure about spending the money, you could try out a new download service (disclaimer: I'm not associated with this service, and do NOT endorse it) that is offering Rome: TW as a free download to anyone trying out the beta: http://www.zuild.net/blogentry.aspx/35
