There are some bad words so ya know.

Hehe, its alright. The problem is he assumes that we care about actually changing the other side, when most of the time we only argue with them because we feel like having a laigh at someone elses expense even though we know that we are both normal people living normal lives. The exaggeration thing is particularly true about me, i tend to go into nihilist mode whenever people start talking about God's plans for humanity and heaven and hell, even though i am more humanist in reality.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.
A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."
He is more talking to the Evangelical Christians and Evangelical Atheists (they exist, trust me), not to the everyday ones.

It is funny and worth the time to read. I do not think that
is on the mark though. My point of view or anybody's point of view should never be offensive to anyone. I have every right to take offense at someone's actions, but not their thoughts. I can disagree with an idea, I can even think the idea is offensive, but I should not be offended by the person with the idea. I do not think this was entirely made clear by the author.5. Your Point of View is Legitimately Offensive to Them

At my school growing up, there was always a couple of older men in suits who would come on like the last day of school and they would hand out small bibles to anyone who wanted them and they'd be saying things like "you should decide for yourself". they never came on the school property or harrassed anyone. Generally likable old fellows.
Now I'm in college and I see the other side. A bunch of twenty somethings with messy hair and such. The first time I saw one I though some beggar had wandered onto the campus with his cardboard sign. It was only when I heard him preeching about how God is murder that I realized he wasn't just some beggar. I've seen dozens of them now all over the campus. They are a lot more in your face and annoying than the other guys.
I don't think it's wrong to celebrate someones death. Especially if the person who died deserved no better.
Celebrating other peoples death is what armies do every day.
Frederick II of Prussia: "All Religions are equal and good, if only the people that practice them are honest people; and if Turks and heathens came and wanted to live here in this country, we would build them mosques and churches."
Norge: "Give me a break. Nothing would make you happier than to see the eagle replaced with a crescent."
Ummon:"enforcing international law will require that the enforcers do not respect it"
Olmstead v USA:"Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. To declare that in the administration of the criminal law the end justifies the means-to declare that the government may commit crimes in order to secure the conviction of a private criminal-would bring terrible retribution. Against that pernicious doctrine this court should resolutely set its face."
Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who can't defend themselfs.
When you stand before god you can not say "I was told by others to do this" or that virtue was not convenient at the time
Sure, that's the ideal. But it's far from the truth.
No. I'm only saying that it's natural and the only reason you people think celebrating someone elses death is bad is because of petty, unnecessary morals. I'm generally against killing, and I also oppose of the death sentence, so don't get the wrong picture.

so you consider yourself a soldier in an army?
Are there any other atheists who are getting annoyed at the sudden media attention anti-religious idiots are getting recently? It seriously gets on my nerves when these people put up posters and appear on TV shouting "DOWN WITH RELIGION! GO ATHEISM!". People slowly form the idea in their minds that atheism is an organised system of beliefs and the next time someone discovers that I don't believe in a god they get this little template they've built and they stick it right onto my personality and make all kinds of silly assumptions. A new word needs to be created for these people, for years when someone has asked "what religion are you?" I've replied "I'm not religious" without any contemplation but thanks to these idiots now when someone asks I actually feel myself hesitate and assess how the person acting would react. These people do a disservice to atheists everywhere and quite frankly need to give themselves a new title or shut the hell up and stop tainting our name. An example:
At this years freshers fair at the University of Leeds there were two stalls, the Christian Union and the Atheist Society. Walking past the AS stall I see a great big banner proclaiming "THERE IS NO GOD" while they stand there with megaphones yelling about how all religions are wrong and bad for society. I carry on walking and arrive at the CU stall, where friendly people are handing out free coffee and muffins and playing jenga. Who in this situation are you going to have a better view of?

Atheism is a belief, beleiving in evolution. It is a different type of religions, but seems to me to be religion.
Dictionary says :religion: a set of beliefs concerning the nature and purpose of the universe.
that isnt the only definition, but it is one. Atheism fits.
About the article. It has some very good points, but seems to assume that atheism give somone few morals.
lol, i sent it to my missionary uncle. It should be interesting. I recently sent him an email about a guy who decorated thousands of gravestones with wreaths he donated every year for the last ten years at christmas, and about how the twelve days of christmas song was a christmas carol. he tore the email apart, proved the first part true, and proved the second part wrong. All from a little chain mail that was really nice. So it should be interesting how he responds to that.
