    Default Find me a Film

I can't find any films at the moment which I'd be interested in watching. Could you help me please.

I want it to be associated with the military or war. I want it to have lots of drama involved.

Similar to these kind of films: Gladiator, The Last King of Scotland, Hotel Rwanda, Braveheart, etc.

    Thanks

the ones I;m gonna mention are kinda old, but they're quite great and probably are my favorites

    Braveheart
    Troy
    Gladiator
    Saving private Ryan
    The last of the Mohicans
    The patriot
    Wind talkers
    We were soldiers
    Platoon
    Kingdom of heaven
King arthur (not sure about the name, but it's the one where arthur is a roman general)
the guns of navarone (very old movie)

i can't think of anything else now, but I'll post others later when i remeber them

Of those I've not seen: The Guns of Navarone, King Arthur, Wind Talkers.

    I'll check them out. Thanks.

"The Guns of Navarone" seems quite promising from what I've read on wikipedia.

"Wind Talkers" doesn't seem so positive from what I've read, apparently it's received a lot of negative reviews.

"King Arthur" this seems quite mixed, thanks for suggesting it but it doesn't look like my "type".

    Thanks.

"Letters From Iwo Jima" seems like a good option.

It seems you like war and historical movies. I'm going to suggest few more rarities such as Zulu, Tora! Tora! Tora!, All Quiet on the Western Front (1930 version), Lawrence of Arabia, Midway, Zulu Dawn, Caligula and Schindler's List (not a rarity like most of other films but still a movie that everyone should see at least once).

I couldn't come up with anymore right now, but I'm quite sure there is a movie or two at least you haven't seen yet.

Almost all of them seem like interesting films. You certainly know my genre. Although Caligula has incredibly negative reviews.

I like Caligula myself altough. Sure it's a long film, and not filled with action all the time, but for history lover like myself it's a great clip that I find always interesting, regardless couple of things I didn't like that much. (yes, I have seen it 3-4 times already ).

If it's length and historical focus is why it's criticized then I guess I might like it. I've seen a film called 'Asoka' before, it was 3 hours and 40 minutes long, but I thought it was great. Historical accuracy is important, and creates a point of interest.

Well, lets just say the movie is a bit "extreme", that is why it's criticized so much. Watch the movie and you will understand.

EDIT: Just remember to get censured version of the movie, otherwise it's filled with all sort of crap that can pretty much ruin the whole movie.

If you want some good foreign war films, check out: Talvisota (Winter War, finnish), Stalingrad (german) and Tae Guk Gi (brotherhood of war, Korean).

Full Metal Jacket is another vietnam classic but it slows down in some parts. If you feelin really loopy go check out Seven Samurai, I actually really liked that one athough its not technicaly a "war" movie there are people who kill other people, so its kinda close right? ^.^
