it can mean three things(that i have noticed)
-they want to offer something like trade/or an alliance but want you to talk to them(even if they dont if u offer trade or something they go away)
-that factions priorities may be war and you may be attacked soon
-if that faction is your ally they might want military help(priorities: military)
I admire your luck, Mr...?

I think it may also be bribe attempts, or with princesses, attempts to steal a general from you through marriage.
ic.. makes sense thanks alot for the info n fast replys![]()
Bribe attempts in most cases. Or war. Just be prepared for both.![]()
I agree here with Bribing but when War is in their head you will also find spie in your settlements and some of their armies bordering your lands.
I have seen this even so you were allied with them. For examples, I was the Danes and I was allied with Poland and HRE everything was fine untill HRE turned on Poland, and add Poland as tehir Vassals after that HRE send me 2 diplomats, Oh and in the meantime I find two spies, still I was prepared Hamburg as my last line of defense.. But
Surprisinly they didn't attack they waited untill I attack one of their allies they didn't want to attack and break the allianced we add forged.( Intelligent AI for once as it would have given them Bad Rep)
i like to think that, in its own way, the ai is bringing up the diplo screen to check your power rating every turn. like spain waiting to hit you over the head while you have the sole of your boot on milan's throat...
I've noticed this recently too....However the diplomats have been trying to talk with my faction leader. The ai wouldn't be trying to bribe my faction leader, would it? You can't do that, right?
So by bribing the faction leader do you get control of the faction? Or do they become vassals? Or do you simply get complete control of their provinces.
I been playing the game since it came out in 2006 and I swear I have tried to bribe Faction Leaders before. I have always noticed that you can't Bribe Capitals or Faction Leaders.. when did they change that?

Since I couldn't find anything on the forum, I'll post this here...
Playing as the Byzantines, a Sicilian princess attempted to coerce one of my family members (cousin to the current FL). However, it backfired and I recieved a message that the Princess was disgraced and married my family member. However, that family member remains unmarried and the foreign princess does not show up in my family tree. However, the Princess did disappear.
So I take it that it is hardcoded that only FL and FH can marry foreign princesses and the event that I described above was a waste of time?
I'm not sure sure on what you want to know exactly but I'm pretty sure that the general you had wasn't a family member meaning by bloodline, right???? as you already probably know some generals aren't in your family tree unless they get Man of the Hour our you get them married with one of your bloodline princesses...
I believe only FL and FH can marry foreign Princesses and appear on the family tree correctly. When I played England, a long long time ago, I tried to marry off their Princess to get the younger Scottish son. I was successful. The general is a Family Member not a General when you put the mouse on their pictures, but she disappeared from the family tree. Your case is just the reverse of mine. The process would work fine if you marry her off to a General, a none family member, of a faction. Rebels also does not work.
Riddle me this, riddle me that:
Who was my first commander?
How many of me are active right now?
And who drank a Delacourt '27 when received the commandership of me?
Save adn continue to play. Maybe save and reload. I seem to vaguely recall that there was some family tree bugs that were self correcting in some manner over time.
Touch back with us if you get children oand the tree corrects itself.
I am interested, but do not really have anything to suggest.
