    Default Idiotic Battle Stories

Stupid things you've done while bored on the battlefield.... have at it!

I once took a fortress with one regiment each of spearmen and crossbows and a Monster Bombard. I just dragged the cannon along with me and used it at point blank range while the spearmen absorbed javelins and the crossbows kept the enemy garrison from getting too close.. It ended with me decimating the last of his men by dragging the thing into the central square and loosing two well-aimed shots into his infantry.

There was also the time I decided to get my revenge on those backstabbing bastards and level Genoa with a full stack of mortars... he didn't even think to sally forth while they were protected by two regiments of SCARY PEASANTS!

All I did was take out his towers and proceed to bombard his army to dust. I ended up losing half a regiment to his full stack. Causing catastrophic damage to half of the buildings was VERY worth it.

Created an army of 1 general and the rest ballista. Just walked around killing stacks of everything, making sure I always fought battles where I had high ground. Several times scored heroic victories with barely any losses. Just avoid fighting cavalry. So much fun!!!

Eventually got attacked by an army that had 5 heavy cavalry and my fun ended, but eh, totally worth it!

Good ol' artillery stacks... never seems to stop being fun. You should try that with rocket launchers... most computers can't even handle that much shiny-ness. .__.

As the Turks in Stainless Steel, I was alarmed to see nearly a dozen crusader armies on the march for Acre. So I kept a veteran army of mostly infantry and artillery out in the open and a full stack of veteran, retrained horse archers hiding in the wood nearby.

As soon as the Crusader armies came within range I would completely surround them with infantry on one side and the horse army would come out of nowhere and surround them on the opposite side. I've done that to about 5 separate armies now and they've all fallen for it. The result is hilarious with the horse archers wiping out all cavalry before they can get near to my lines. Between horses and artillery, their troops are worthless by the time they get to my lines of infantry. They flee within seconds and all the horses chase them down.

In the last such battle, I lost 150 troops and killed nearly 1000. Keep in mind that about 100 of my deaths were from friendly fire from the all too eager AI controlled artillery.

I'd like to keep doing it, but the last few crusader armies have gotten wise and are just camping far away from my anti-crusade personnel.

That's more epic than idiotic, methinks. Still, +rep for a solid strategy.
