Need Help

OK, I read through the posts and looked for some answers but I haven't found anything specific to my problem.

I performed a clean install of the original RTW with the updayes 1.3 and 1.5. I didn't add anything and it was my original disk version. I installed the SPQR mod and it gets as far as the load screen and then I get the CTD.

I do have to note that I have the RTW-gold version in another directory entirely and that has another mod installed.

I also did a completely clean install on my son's computer with the SPQR mod and was able to get to the menu and start to setup a game before the CTD. His computer has never had any other version on it so I think it might be a performance issue but before I did the install I knocked out the tutorial, so I know it worked before the mod.

Where am I going wrong? Do I have to un-install everything and lose the other mod in another directory? I played this mod before and was excited about the set-up and game play. Now that there are named legions too I really want to play this.

if you have a clean install of your gold edition you don' t need to patch it becous this is already patched to 1.5

try updating your video cart drivers.

i don' t think this will be the problem. i have several copy' s of my rtw version and thy all contain different mods.

Did you check to see if the Download was complete and not corrupted? Did the size match? Also when you got the loading screen was it the SPQR logo or just the vanilla? These are all important details to fine tune whats wrong. BY having CTDs on 2 PCs would indicate something wrong with the download or install. You did download the 280mb file and not just the small patch?

I'll have to check when I get home to confirm, but I am positive it was the full 280mb file. Like I said I get the SPQR logo screen on both. On one computer I get to the start up screen and I completed the prologue. But when I try and start a campaign or a quick battle I get the CTD. The other computer goes through the SPQR logo screen then CTDs.

I will update the drivers as suggested and confirm the size of the file. Again, I am looking forward to playing this again.

You dont have to play the prologue its set in the preferences that you dont have to.

quick battles don' t work in spqr so it is normel your game will ctd when you try to play a quick battle.

you can play custom battles these will work without a problem.

Sorry about that, I meant custom battles and not quick battles. I just couldn't remember, being at work and not having it in front of me. My son likes the custom battles and I am teaching him basic tactics and that's what I have been trying on his machine. But thanks for keeping me honest.

correct me if i'm wrong but did i just read that you can make this mod work with RTW gold??

Did a total wipe of the RTW folder to include the registry sweep as suggested, then a fresh re-install. Got it working and the Huge battles look awesome! Very nice work!! Outstanding!
