    Default RS2 Feature list ?

    Hey

    I'm eagerly anticipating the release of RS2, but I'm haven't looked into the forums each day for the past year. Don't hope that you think this is a stupid idea.....

    There are a lot of questions about RS2, so I thought perhaps that perhaps we could make a list of big and small features in RS2 to get an overview.

    Here's one for starters:

    1) New map - a sort of cross between mundus magnus and our existing map. It's basically a mundus magnus map scaled up to cover approximately the same area as the existing one (but going a little further east)

    2) Pretty much all new units - around about 1000 new skins many on high resolution models. Lots of historical detail

    3) Totally revamped recruitment - detailed area of recruitment set up, barracks trees, etc

    4) Faction list: Romans, Carthage, Sparta, Macedon, Ptolemies, Seleucids, Pontus, Pergamon, Free Greeks, Arverni, Belgae, another as yet unrevealed celtic faction, a germanic faction, Scythia, Sarmatia, Parthia, Armenia, an Iberian tribe, Dacia, Free barbarians, slave

    5) Totally new battle system - new unit stats, changes to the AI formations. Work currently being undertaken by the master of battle stats.

    6) Roman leadership system by Calvin (and other leadership systems to come)

    7) New buildings

    8) New battlemap environment - skies, lighting, dust, vegetation, buildings, ground textures radically transformed to create a much more realistic and immersive "world"

    9) New music by Maxim Victor and Arn

    10) New UI - loading screens, campaign and battle UI, customised buttons, icons, etc

    11) New resources and economic structure


    Literally thousands of man hours have gone in to try and make this the ultimate RTW mod - historical but fun, and with graphics that don't feel ashamed to stand against those of M2TW.

    I probably ought to add links to previews of each of these where they've been done.

    ah...from this I gather that these are the factions remaining for a preview:

    Carthage, Pergamon, Unrevealed Celtic, Germanic, & Iberian factions, Sarmatians, and Dacia...unless you guys plan to do a preview for the free greeks & free barbarians & I doubt there would be one for the slave faction.

    And of course Rome would be for last just before the release of RS2.

    So I suppose that leaves 7 more previews before the Roman preview and the release.

    We may not preview all factions before a realice, it's all about how much time we want to put into that instead of use that time to complete the mod.
    Btw. we have already previewed a free people, well at least parts of it.
    Syracuse and Kingdom of Bosporos.

    hmm they are Free People? I thought they were their own factions? If not then I suppose this leaves 2 mystery factions doesn't it?

    i THINK we'll be releasing an "sub-mod" after we release RS 2.0 proper that will allow you to swap out Sparta for either the Bosporan Kingdoms or Syracuse, so you could play a campaign with either as full factions... at least, that was the plan originally...

    Yeah, there'll be a few things that will come after the initial release.

    I would say that we have 3 Gaulic tribes instead of one.

    the idea of "The Gauls" as one unified supertribe is an RTW fallacy (mostly), so that's why we have three large Gallic factions, and lots of "mini-factions" represented by units in their roster, such as the Aedui and the Volcae.

    Also, the campaign begins quite a lot later than in 1.5, which makes for radically different gameplay.

    and what about these swap factions? will there be for example Syracusai playable instead of sparta? because there was some great preview on syracusai faction and now there is nothing of it? i know it is "minifaction" in free greeks... but it is too far from being anyhow enjoyable playing as "free greeks" and trying to imagin playing as syracusai
