    Default 10k no rules ha spam counters

    i have started to play the 10k no rules game and i love it....

    pros
    1) much easier to get games going and not worrying about persons not following rules; leaving game; etc etc...

    2) lots of possible outcomes w/ such varied setups

    cons
    1) when my inf has to chase opponents arch all over map b/c will not admit defeat

    and second, to the topic,

    2) facing the 20 unit ha spam


    i realize that i could always counter ha w/ another ha faction but i dont have hrs upon end to play online and ha battles bore me at best

    i also realize i could play on a map that limits effectiveness of ha...

    i guess i'm just asking for advice on this as many of you have surely dealt w/ this ,as i learned about 10k no rules mainly from prince's and scourge's vid's, and i dont want to put an "*" next to the no rules clause of the game (10k no rules but you cant have 20 ha...)

    Archer Auxilia and a few first cohorts in testudo will work wonders.

    this sounds good as i love the ole testudo (my clan plays a 60k rome only game that features much testudo action)

    Yeah, I find that whenever you get person playing as Parthia or Armenia, and see that they have quite a large army, then definitely use Romans. What I used to do is to grab say 8 cohorts of legionaries, and then a few archer auxilia. Place your legionaries in testudo, and put them into two rows stuck together, all facing out, so their rears are all protected. Then place the archers amid the testudos, where they will be well protected.

    Archer box is best, preferably with elite archers. Just give them gold weapons, let rip, and kick ass.

    I think 12.5K CWB Rules is best, but just my opinion.

    Well, sometimes when Melee takes place, their HA flanks and/or they stay really close to your lines to shoot into you. What I try to do is, try to attack the HA if they do that. When I try it and succeed, then when I win, I win with out having to chase their HA of course., But if I forget or fail to do it, I have to chase them to hell and back.

    The problem if you play a good player and you put your urbans into tseduo is that they can charge your infatry with cav which will decimate them if its by somt cata cav so not a good idear really and the archer box theory is even worse as they can pick on your archers q easily, the best way is to get long range archers but get soem fast cav like militia cavalry and keep charging the ha with the fast cav so they have to go out of cantabry circle thus get hit by your archers and the javelin from the militia cav works a treat

    Personally I came to like 20k, as it allows for more realistic armies. However your opponent can now spam alot of units if they choose not to pick Historical armies.

    Also at higher money levels archers become less war winning, like they were(for most factions).

    I prefer 10k or 15k i think the factions are more equal with each other at this level when the money is higher it favours mainly rome especially when you get up to 60k ect

    hi, my favourite counter to the ha spam is too get 10 slingers & as many spearman to protect them (dont have to be great). Even in cant circle, slingers seem to be able to hit the chariots where the arrows consistantly miss. All i do is line up a line of slingers (rhodian works best), put them in loose formation, take them off skirmish so they dont run about, then put the spears in a line (thin as you like) in front or behind your line of slingers.

    boring game...just sitting there and watching those chariots go around in circles, but ultimately a victorious one! Spammers deserve to die slowly

    p.s Sorry, reread, this counter is really only for Chariot archer spams, not sure how it goes vs parthia etc.
