    Default Recruited Governors/Generals w/ Weird Traits

    It seems that any time I recruit a governor-general to govern a city, over time they will receive 'brave' traits. Half of all my governors have the legendary bravery trait. However, none of my recruited generals get these traits. They also never receive any new command stars. I was wondering if this is purposeful or if it was a bug.

    Field generals do gain stars, however, they must do something to achieve them. Win some heroic victories and see what happens.

    Try patching to the latest version, that was an issue in 1.5a, the game is now at 1.5c and that was in fact fixed in 1.5b. In the future if you aren't using the latest patch, patch before posting issues or problems.

    Sorry.. I just didn't want to patch because I've modified some of the text files to change event strings and such.. Also I didn't see anything in the patch notes in the release threads about my particular issue, so I didn't bother with them..

    The files I modified were just event strings and actual names of some of the traits in the vnv_enums file, so it shouldn't have cause the problem I had, plust the problem was there long before I modified anything.

    However, patching did turn out to help, even if I did have to go through the text files and change everything back to the way I had it.. But it was well worth it. My generals now get their proper rewards for their successes. I can even adopt them into my family now...

    Anyways, thanks for the input Much appreciated.

    Well, the courageous traits weren't what were bugging me.. Mostly it was the fact that none of my recruited generals would gain stars after any battle, no matter what, and I could never adopt them. However now it's working properly.. Was all that really caused by the temple fix?

    Here's the relevent bit from the release thread, which you've alluded to:


    • A few trait/ancillary fixes which include a change to the triggers for temples to make temples more reasonable, especially for those temples (like fun) that were atrocious before
    This fix did specifically address the issue of the generals being in a settlement getting the "Brave" traits, even if it didn't explicitly state it, also there was the point about various other fixes, which could also certainly encompass trait/ancillary fixes.

    In regard to not being able to adopt generals, that has nothing to do with RS, but is an RTW thing, you will only be able to adopt generals if you family member to region ration is too low, there is nothing we can do to alter that.

    As for command starts, it was made much more difficult to get command stars, and that was in the old 1.10 series of releases.

    Thanks for the info.. I guess I missed the part about the temple fixes only being part of the traits/ancillaries fix..

    Either way, everything is working perfectly now.. Thanks a lot for all help
