    Icon14 Tired of Gamespy?

Hi guys, I tried to do a 1v1 with a friend from Canada a week ago, and GameSpy did not let us play, he gave me GameRanger, a free gaming program, I did quite a few games with him using that. I would like to see if that could replace GameSpy.

But for that, the program needs testing, it worked fine for a 1v1, I need members to download it and try it with me, we must see if the program works fine in 2v2s and 3v3s too.

Get it and make an account for it.

Please get it, and try it with me.

Is this in any way similar to Hamachi?

    Well... No!

Hamachi is private, this is public, and it does not have any conflicts with Gamespy as hamachi has.

I already played a game with Jomen/Munin he is the founder is SOR clan, he changes his name allot.

It worked fine, 2v2 vs AI.

I got quite a few players on GameRanger. If you want to contact them. Just add them as friends on GameRanger.
To add a friend follow the next steps:

Click the Add button, on the bottom of the screen i showed you, and this will appear

In the black "square" I did, introduce the numbers that I will give you later.
    Click Search.
    Select the player.
    Click Add friend.

Okay, now that we have the friends, we need to know how to host, join and play. To host follow the next steps.

    Click Host, and this will apear;

Select the game from the list, (Remember GameRanger supports around 200 games. But in the list only the installed games will show up)
Select the number of max players.
    Put a description on (optional)
    And click Start

Now wait for your friend/friends to join, and click start
Warning, Rome must not be on. When the host clicks start, the game will start.

Immediately after the host has hosted the game will appear on the bottom of the games list. Double click it to join.

    That's it.

    Now for the players list:

    RomeWolf from CoH - 324925
    Pacifier from Killer - 328520
    Leanbod from GoTW - 324941
    Reeve from GoTW - 324882

    Teo from Sith - 318333
    Darth_Max from Sith - 325159
    Don_Eagle from Sith - 324722
Sewer Rat from (I forgot the clan, please tell me where he's from) - 324931
    Joker from Killer - 328537
    Selifator from TWC - 326138
Toern no clan (ex Sith) - 324919

i used to do this. my old pc ended up with 7 high threat trojans and hackbots. do urself a favor, play with security on and realise that gamespy just sucks. if i can play BF2 with 6 antivir programs and a firewall on without lag, rtw should be a piece of cake. except GS sux.

Erm.. For LAN games, you need to have the cable, or some sort of internal network that links the computer. If you're using Gameranger, then it wouldn't be called LAN

Slight correction. It has its own server from which you can host the game.

i hate gamespy. ill have to try game ranger. Is it like a crappier x-fire, because thats the only way i can see this working without having to do MP through the game, as gamespy is the RTW host server... so how exactly would this work?
Of these facts there cannot be any shadow of doubt: for instance, that civil society was renovated in every part by Christian institutions; that in the strength of that renewal the human race was lifted up to better things-nay, that it was brought back from death to life, and to so excellent a life that nothing more perfect had been known before, or will come to be known in the ages that have yet to be. - Pope Leo XIII

Gameranger has a server on which you can host games, all sorts of games. There is no logging in like in GS, since the program automatically is the server. You just host a game, get players, start it, and you go to the faction selection window.
You also don't need to start the game, you go directly to the MP part.

Have used it myself and I think as a server it is easily superior to Gamespy (not that hard I know) only problem is getting people on for games as its not like the gamespy lobby
