would upgrading my video card from a 128 mb to a 256 help M2tw enouph to be worth it?

hello, I have about a 100$-145$ budget and have more then enough memory, but this great mod and BC lag to the point of torture. I currently have a Geforce 128 mb video card with vista, can anyone help with advice? +rep to you good Samaritans!

What is most important is clock speed and memory quality. I would recommend this card since it the same model as mine. I can run everything including Crysis on max (minus AA).

dude you can get a 8800gt for about the same price as the 3870 and , trust me, its much better.

i have it with vista and i can run medeival at highest settings with AA and QA with no lag at 4000 to 5000 units on screen

Anything wit GT next to it belongs in the garbage bin.

3870s outmatch 9600 GT's and 8800 GTX's and most likely 9800 GT's as well. 8800 GT's are ancient in comparison.

im guessing the one on the right, which has the most MHz clock speed(it has 650, the other two have 625 and 600), is the best. it is also cheapest.

might be an idea to check what motherboard people have before giving recommendations.

some people may have mobo with only AGP, others only PCI-Express.

might be worth checking to see what cards are compatible in terms of speed power supply etc as well.

(if you can afford one a 9800GT+ looks good )

This - Check THIS before anything else. It's all very well suggesting good cards but if his system's really outdated then he'd new a new motherboard to fit them, and then likely a new PC, something outside his budget. Or if he could run PCI-E cards, he might have a crappy PSU. Likewise, when you say GeForce 128MB, what card is this? There's a lot more information we need to know before we can reccomend you an upgrade.

would you consider that a decent CPU? and although I will give the otehr s a chance, I will most likely get the GeForce

I have an overclocked 512 mb 8800 GT, a 2.4GHz quad core processor, 3.2 GB's of RAM, and two 500GB hard drives linked for RAID config. I run the game on the highest possible settings (shadows and anti-aliasing all the way up) and get very good frames. Totally get the 8800.

WARNING: This card is SUPER FREAKIN' BIG. Biggest card I've ever seen. It is 10 1/2 INCHES in length. I had to move my hard drives to fit this monster into my computer. I also had to upgrade my power supply. Make sure you have a proper power supply!

Edit: I have a 22" (1650 by 1050) LCD widescreen monitor

This forum isn't perticularly well suited to give out video card advice. There are sites, like Tom's hardware, that have monthly video card buyers guides.
This december they recommend the Radeon HD 4830 or the GeForce 9800 GT 512 MB (aka GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB) for $120. I'd recommend checking out the guide before you buy!
