Default Marius Event - No consol cheats, 167BC, Carthage gone, Palace built

Hey there LT, first I wanted to say thank you, I've been hooked ever since 6.4 came out.

So far I've conquered all of Carthage, and the Roman Senate. I've marched into Greece and taken over Sparta and 4 other provinces north of there and a couple into Gual territory and I've built I think 2 Imperial Palaces on Italian soil. I've decided to stop and ask for your help as it's getting increasingly difficult when they put archers out in force.

    The year is 167 BC
    Carthage and Rome are gone
I hold 40 regions (until next turn, damn Guals)
I have not used any of the console cheats

I did alter the main launch file I forget what it's called to give me more money, reduced the barb spawns and changed the diplomatic stances so that I'd have some breathing room and I gave Greece back the Colossus Of Rhodes so they would have more money. Greece seems like too much of a push over compared to Gaul or Carthage. After you take Syracuse and Sparta they can't build or recruit any of their Spartans which are the uber for them.

Am I missing something? What do I need to do to get reforms. Thank you in advance.

    - Ack

P.S. - I can post my save game file if you wish.

I removed colossus of rhodes because the player could abuce that income plus the greeks have enough money to last them in the area. lol Destroying carthage is well and good but again you must have RUSHED taking them out. If you wonder how I know its because if you jump the gun and dont play correctly Marius wont be triggered for a while. I suggest Building your cities up in Carthage and romanizing them while you wait for reforms. Seems like no matter how hard one tries there are always people trying to ruin the experience by finding exploits. Imperial palaces in Italy mean nothing now. I suggest building up carthage provinces and then sometime later the reforms will come. Normally when a Player defeats carthage they have built up their cities, if you rush they dont and then you can postpone the trigger which will happen but then it wont happen like it should,

Actually was 167 rushing it? I thought I went through their lands pretty slow. I dedicated an entire day and stayed up all night to beat them. The next day was horrible at school, I only survived by the official drink of the Trarii; "Low Carb Monster" energy drink.

Okay cool I'll hold the fort and build up those cities. If I end up taking Rhodes I'll hand over the city to someone like egypt or something as of right now I have more money than I know what to do with. I try to keep myself between 50 and 100K so that I don't get any generals tempted to turn to the dark side of things. Thank you for your input.

You should take it slow and build up the provinces in carthage to make them rich and stable, the reforms will get there in time. Whats the rush?

Also, Id like to ask, is it rushing if one goes there early? Im in 188 and Carthage in Africa is like 1 or 2 regions strong only, but I have been fighting there for about 20 turns or more, that cannot be rushing come on!
And to notice, I havent set foot in Greece yet

To answer this question now i know you still use 6.4 not it is not rushing if you go in 188 BC. The reason why we are talking about not rushing carthage is becous the marius reforms are changed, imperial palace building is reduced to a period of 16 turns no more 30 like in 6.4. Marius will reform afther conquering carthage and building it up. It' s a new futere if you didn 't know already.

That is the fun part of it, you know thy will happen when you take carthage but you don' t know when it will happen. This is one of the best futures in SPQR 7.

Don' t build the imperial palace then. In my campaign i still need to knock out carthage but i am already building up italie to recruit my republicans when i take over Africa.
