    Default Permission for using models/textures

    Hi.

I'm working in a personal project (nobody else involved at the moment) and for the final development I would like to use some parts of this excellent mod.

As images are more informative than words (my words overall ), these are self-explanatory about the nature of my project:

At the moment I have a fully functional map, with roughly the final regions division, but to be polished in ground types and settlement levels.

My short-term objective is to have a fully functional campaign, to be played in SP or hot-seat modes with autoresolve battles option. For this purpose I would like to use the strat models and textures as starting point for the new models of the different factions. I've seen the nice work by phoen!x and I wonder if I could use those settlement/siege models.

In long-term I would like to implement also the battle system, starting from the battle system of FKoC and adapting it to the higher number of factions.

Would it be possible to use all this material? Of course with full credits (if the mod is ever released ) to the creators.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S.: of course, any help would be very welcome.
P.S. 2: sorry for decreasing the level of English in this forum.

    First of all, thanks.

The help would be to make different the models (more commonly textures) for the different cultures/factions. If the current red colors are assigned to (let's say) eastern culture, some kind of differences for nothern and southern european cultures.

In case of having permission for generals and captains, the same, to change mainly textures to make different the characters of each culture/religion.

And of course any other help in different aspects of the campaign: improvement of the maps, AI behavior types, etc.

Mate, you dont really have the right to tell other modders which part of my mod they can use in other mods.

    Cheers

True, AlphaDelta is right. Rights are exclusive to SEGA/CA and then the individual modder. However, there are limitations to rights and privileges. This is a community forum so I would hate to see any argument here. It seems that this would be a benefit to all to see it in production.

Feel free to use anything I have come up with in this project. I would be willing to help in any way.

That would be interesting to have another mod to complement till E:TW.

I love FKoC. But having a diff mod with all of Europe would be fun, because sadly... FKoC gets a tad boring after while... I still love it though!

ok ^^ I could make models. And improve basic skins to look better. Coloring, details, normal maps, ... what I don t like to do is UV mapping and creating these basic skins.

For excample I could, if you d get permission to add some units of the 17th century mod, I could make them look much better. Or vanilla units ?
(btw. would be a big releaf to have some cooperation with 17th-mod for both projects, I guess)

No. I won't do it if I have to make all the units from scratch.

Regarding the strat models, this is my idea:

Using the model of royalist captain, with small changes in model, but mainly in texture, the characters can be modified for the different factions.

It can get boring. I find giving units more attributes is in order. It is just pike and musket adding halberds was a good thing but expounding on grenadiers and early modern ordnance and sapping units would be a plus and well rounded. It wasn't all pop and boom, but craftwork as well. For its time, the weapons were ahead of the tactics as was the American condition. Hundreds of thousands of people died. Battlefields littered with dead.

Still, AD did this one well.

Just imagine a War of Jenkin's Ear mod or War of the Spanish Succession mod. The Nine Years' War for a mod. That would be something, ah Jenkin's. I have one of his ancestor's for a friend. Dutch.

There's no need to get into legal discussions. We just need to remember to adhere to common courtesy. A modder should only give permission for work he has produced, not what others have done.

I think it's just a missunderstanding and I bear no grudges.

    Anyway...

Monkwarrior, you have my permission to use what ever you need from FKOC. If you want to use the EDU stats system you need to contact Point Blank. If you want to use the AI contact Grandviz. If you want to use Battlefield smoke mod contact Headlock. 12 turns per year script is by GED, faction descriptions are by Macky. Everything else found in the 1.0, 1.1, 1.15, 1.5 packages is my work and you are free to use it on your mod.

Good luck with this ambitious project!

Thanks a lot. I will contact each of those modders if I plan to use their own work.

Just to clarify the possible controversy, I had understood that the permission of phoen!x was only for his own work (settlement strat models in a first approach). Not doubt for me.

My explanation about my plans (in general) was only to indicate the possible help that I would welcome if any is interested.

I will keep you informed of any progress, and perhap I will open a thread in the mods in development forum.

I know I've asked this before and I have no desire to nag, but I feel I must be clear on this subject. My respect for your contribution to the modding community demands no less. Are you making this as a general offer to the community including myself, or just to this one modder. If you want, I can PM you the details regarding what I wished to do with it. Thanks, you've done great work.

Anything? I'll take a "no", but I'd like an answer one way or the other. Thanks, AD.

I took the liberty of modifying this particular file.

    http://files.filefront.com/descr+wal.../fileinfo.html

its descr_walls. It has modications on weaponry fired from walls.

cannons, culverin and ribauldequins..........the latter being akin to swivel guns. Makes sieges a lot harder.

Of course it is a missunderstanding! And I must say I feel a little insulted. In spite I actually forgot about that one of my edited points bases actually on your work.

I´d take AlphaDelta´s offer up for the battlefield units. Pikemen, Cuirassiers, Royalist Lifeguards, Cavaliers, Parliament Troopers, Royalist Haquebusiers and London Trained Band Musketeers all don´t differ in style from the Thirty Year´s War dress and equipment. The only things I´m not sure about are the Musketeers, since I don´t believe the Monmouth Caps were worn in continental Europe, and the Dragoons. Otherwise, you have it all ready.
Life is a sequence of missed opportunities
