Re: Hard to read CTW in-game messages\information
Well, we will see if we will change something in this matter, i guess you play it on a laptop?
Most laptops have a pretty bright default coulour/contrast etc. sheme.
I recommend to darken it up ... to get a better contrast. But the same you could do with another desktop monitor.

Re: Hard to read CTW in-game messages\information
I have another preference related question; whenever I try and change a setting in any of the txt documents for Chiv, it will just show an error saying:
"Cannot create the C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\chivalry\preferences\Chivalry preferences\chiv-references.txt file.
Make sure that the path and file names are correct"
Is there anything I can do because im not a big fan of the minimal UI?

I do not understand the path above.
If you copy and paiste a preferences.txt that you prefer (might it be from RTW or from BI or whatever) then for ChivTW the correct path should be
C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\chivalry\preferences
... means open the chivalry folder, then open the preferences folder and paiste the prefered (and previously copied) preferences.txt into it and overwrite, close and play.
Otherwise, if you wanna change certain values, then open the preferences.txt that is active in the preferences folder and look for the lines/items, ie.
Minimal_ui: Yes ... to No
If you fiddle around with different preferences.txt files in one folder, then you need eventually to rename the file (or remove), as there can be only one file calling preferences.txt in this folder, and only this file is the active file

Re: Hard to read CTW in-game messages\information
Well I figured out it does this for anything you try to change in a program, so its not Chiv related, more likely Vista related.

Perhaps a Vista issue, what i don't use, and don't intend to use.
Normally if i change the pref txt file within the chiv folder then i have changes only for Chivalry.

Re: Hard to read CTW in-game messages\information
well, i'm a new member but i can certainly help you out ;D
it's indeed because of Vista, but i am running vista for a year now and i got EVERY SINGLE GAME to work.
here's how to do it:
1. edit the file you wish to edit
2. instead of saving it in the folder it was, save it in your own documents (the edited file is now in your documents, while the old, un-edited file is still in place)
3. remove the file the you wish to edit (the un-edited in the Total War folder, not in your documents, you'll need that one...otherwise it's re-install)
4. place the edited file (wich is just a copy of the file you deleted, but with the changes you made) in the folder where the deleted one was.
5. go play and see if it has worked
if anything goes wrong it's re-install, so always backup
