will there be triggers to turn the republic into an empire? during the diadochi era the romans were republicans but as caesar was assassinated an empire formed under the name of octavius augustus.

Well, without senate and other families, Rome is sort of autocratic state from the very beginning.

Anyway, what changes/features do you mean to bring into the game by this event ?

At the moment, there is no such event planned in the game. Right now we are preparing to release the 'new romans' patch that will feature Camillan (Early) and Polybian (Late) Romans. Honestly, I won't consider the option of another reform for a long time. So the answer is a certain No.
