I see Venus and Jupiter

I just went outside, looked at the moon, and saw Venus and Mars under the moon. They look like 2 bright stars.

I just thought it was neat.

I think you are looking at Venus and Jupiter (not Mars).

yea. Its visible since a long time. But with moon it is very rare.

In 1st December 2008 in Greece on about 5-6 pm, the moon was very close to Venus and Jupiter, in a angle of 9 degrees I think. That phenomenon will take place again in 2058...

Yeah I've been watching this through my 4in craposcope every good night for the past 2 weeks. At least I can see the color stripes of Jupiter and can see the phase of Venus ok.

1. an optical instrument for making distant objects appear larger and therefore nearer, like a telescope (see telescope), that doesn't work very well. It could have a poor lens, broken mirror, or any other unusable parts. Usually found at a garbage dump or in the homes of Canines that do not own working telescopes.

I have a telescope!

It's really great to look at the planets and the moon. However, light pollution can pretty much ruin the entire hobby for you (as it did with me :/ ). Now I have to wait till I get my driving license so that I can go abroad with my telescope and tent.

EDIT: Jupiter through me telescope.
