We should do something about the patriot act butt it doesn't infringe on my rights and real ID is rejected by my state constitution.

I predict the word conspiracy soon

Fox your misguided, Patriot act does, it grossly infringes our rights, It destroy habeus corpus which basically stops the government from coming to your house and jailing you for life for nothing, They can spy on you and search your house without needing a warrant, They can search your internet records and emails without you knowing, want more ? they can follow you around, tap your phones, do anything they want, and nvm they could, they are its admitted that bush has already abused terrorism laws.

Uh, no, defense was well over 300 billion dollars in 2001, before the terrorist attacks, and before we were fighting 2 wars.

Only one of the wars is against terrorism, not even the largest one.

It won't help to call for a revolution in a foreign language here.

As for the Patriot act, at least we don't have cameras every where. And how many times has the government even used those tapped calls against anyone?

The national ID act is a great idea, kind of... I think everyone should have there fingerprints on record, possibly even DNA so that when something happens (discovery of a desceased body, crime, etc.) it will be easier to sort out.

For the defense spending; it isn't only terrorists. Remember WW1? WW2? Korea? Vietnam? Both Gulf wars? The list goes on. Who would help the US if we got attacked? Canada or Mexico? Their nations are reliant on ours for defense. Britain, France or other Western European nations? Not likely. Russia or China? They're some of the few nation even capable of attacking us. The only nations that would be most likely to support us would be new Democracies such as those in Eastern Europe or nations that are close to us such as Israel. All of which are rather small and have their own threats nearby to worry about.

End result; we still have freedoms that surpass everyone else and of every nation we are the most capable of defending those freedoms.

Sorry Martin, but you don't have enough experience. The government (especially damn state prosecutors) have been doing warrantless searches for ages. They just get a judge to issue one as soon as someome complains. This is illeagal yet most people, even highclass lawyers don't argue the fact.

For the first time I have to agree with Ghazi. The Defense Budget in the US is overly inflated and the Patriot Act is a blatant attack on civil liberties; that many did not raise against it shows people stopped caring for it or would rather live more "safely".

Now I don't know about the National ID and NA Union to speak about it, but...
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

    so do cars?

but do we give up our cars?
no because for convienece we would rather live with the danger!

    we are destroying the constitiution

So what if I'm a Hezbollah supporter

believe me this would be great
it would stop alot of crime
    catch criminals
but is it worth going against our constitution

As for the Patriot act, at least we don't have cameras every where. And how many times has the government even used those tapped calls against anyone?
    regardless
the sheer fact they can is against the constitution

dont get my arguement messed up I am not fighitng this on moral or practical grounds

i am fighting this on the grounds of freedom epitomized in the constituion

    ok so 300 billion before
    then 240 billion?

    so 240 BILLION MORE DOLLARS

    in reaction to 3000 deaths

    whille
somewhere aroudn 300,000 people die in the US over heart problems and that only gets 50 billion dollars

Im not saying they should regulate mc donalds but
you dont see people giving up their mc donalds!!
you dont see people calling for the ban of lard in all food

For some reason I see warmongering american politicians to be a much bigger threat to me, than a bunch of AK-wielding militants on the other side of the world.

The US spends less on defense as a percent of GPA then during the peacetime military under Reagan... And we're at war.

@fox -No, it's not. Stop being off topic.

Hopefully Sr. Obama will overturn some things via executive order once he gets in office.
