    Default explosions

a question,i seem to recall somewhere on this forum ad saying that he had taken visible explosions out of the mod, does anybody know how to put them back again? whilst i enjoy watching the flying pikemen as a cannonball strikes home,(that never gets old!) i and a few of my mates who play this would quite like a good explosion to go with it.anybody got any ideas?

I am not convinced you would see any explosion.

Your Pikemen are being hit by solid shot!

I once found in a large garden a small ball made of iron that fitted into the palm of your hand. When you shook it it rattled. There was a small hole with three even smaller holes around it.

Out of curiosity I took it to my then girlfriends Father who was a professor of history at Cambridge University (He specialised in 17th Century have undertaken alot of research work).
He eventually found out it was a hand grenade from the ECW period.

This particular one was an early "explode on impact" type. Apparently the ball was filled with gunpowder. In the middle of the ball was a musket ball (This was what rattled) The musket ball was attached to the wick, having thrown the grenade as it struck the ground the musket ball shot forward pulling the wick into the powder (Then you get your bang!)

The three smaller holes were for sticks or feathers so that the grenade would stay stable when you lobbed it.

I do not know how effective it was. The grenade now I believe is in the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge.

As for the girlfriend she ditched me as I spent more time with her Dad than her!

Well, the culverin has explosive shots (demi-Cannon, too, I believe), but even those are rather unspectacular.
In MTW at least you get those clouds of dirt thrown up where the cannonball hits the ground, but in M2TW, vanilla as well as this mod and any other I know of, the impact is practically invisible if you donīt position the camera right next to it.
Life is a sequence of missed opportunities
