Is anyone expecting this guy to win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his Joker role, or at least be nominated? If he doesn't win the Academy will lose quite a lot of credibility, I think.

Have they announced any of the other nominees? Have they announced any nominees at all? I think my awnser to this question depends entirely on the competition.

Well certainly nominated, but the Oscars have had some other idiot decisions.
For instance, Ralph Fiennes not winning 'Best actor in supporting role' for portraying Amon Goeth in Schindler's List and Tommy Lee Jones winning it instead.

He'll be nominated, and I certainly hope he wins. There's a high probability that he will.
Same with TDK itself for best picture (which it damn well better win!).

I think it's a pretty certain win. Easily one of the greatest film performances ever. In a comic book film no less.

Is he that good in this role? I always thought it was just Batman fans being biased....if you're right I may have to see this 'fillum'.

My favourite Heath Ledger film I've seen was Two Hands. If you haven't seen it, I suggest you do. The whole thing used to be on youtube in multiple parts - probably still is.

He did O.K., its definatly worth seeing, but it doesnt qualifiy as one of the "greatests". He might just win cause I think its been kind of a slow year, but I cant really remember. He'll definatly get a nomination though, thats for sure.

Must be good then, I'll hire it out next week. I had this feeling though that because he died people sort of over-hyped the Joker thing.

I can't say I'm a big fan of comic book movies in general - so it's not really that influencing my opinion of the performance. In fact, I tend to find them horribly repetitive and boringly simplistic. Ledger, alongside (most of) the rest of the cast proved that it can be so much more. It really was a classic performance.
