I think my easiest way out of this is to Crusade... but I SERIOUSLY stack the deck against myself with this one... VH/VH and I let the AI get a head start, obviously...

Focus on your economy, try to gain access to a port.... if you've got good relations with France, maybe you can keep building trade to the point that you can afford to buy a coastal province.

Do you have military access with France right now? If so, maybe you can do some crusading or invade one of those rebel African provinces with mercenary ships.

That's interesting. Well looks like you can't fight your way out of the French. However, you still need to expand. Seems that the best bet would be to get some alliances going for you.

Is Sicily still Excommunicated? If so, ally with their enemies and mobilize some of your army and hire a Mercenary Cog to take Ajaccio. Crusade against Marakesh even and take Sicily down with a fierce blitz. Rebuild from North Africa and take down the Moors and Iberia.

Also, maybe if France is warring with Venice, you could ally with France and then blitz down the west coast of the Balkans and take Zagreb, Ragusa, Durazzo, and Corinth.

And if France worries too much about wars on it's borders, it might lower it's guard and you could hollow it out before it can do anything about it.

Otherwise, maybe just grab some land and offer it to France in exchange for things like an Alliance or contiguous territories.

In German its called "Heiliges (holy) Römisches (roman) Reich" (empire). So it should be Holy Roman Empire.

I'd say take Zagreb for starters.. It usually is an economic powerhouse and should criple venice to the point that you can run them over..

I think i'd probably hedge my bets with a crusade on an excommunicated faction, hammer it hard and fast with as many mercenaries as possible (hopefully pick a nearby settlement so you can definately reach it first) and then batter that faction. Or.. Do one to either Africa or the British Isles

Jumpin Jesus, how'd this happen? I take it France took you over and you made peace?

Unless you can Crusade to somewhere away from the French, and therefore gain a new homeland, you might have to think about fighting the old Franko's. In that Scenario, pushing into Northern Italy would be the best move - maybe push down into Venice, and secure everything below the Alps while using Innsbruck to cover your a** so to speak.

I know it's intimidating, but I've found that battlefield command can even the greatest of odds. You just need a prayer, a smoke and a tall whiskey.
