EB doesn't work with Steam?

Hi everyone,

As you might expect after reading the title, I'm having a trouble running EB.
I bought this game (RTW) via steam a couple of months ago, it's called Rome : Total War gold (it included Barbarian Invasions expack).

To be honest, I started my Total War experience with MTW2 and it's great mods such as BC and SS. However, the modding community for RTW looked really great and I wanted to give a try to their mods. I really enjoyed Roma Surrectum and it worked without a flaw despite my unorthodox installation system.

I'm aware that EB is much more complex than probably every mod I played, ence maybe this is why I'm having problems.

I downloaded patch 1.1 (full) and 1.2, installed them both into my steam directory :

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\rome total war gold



After having successfully installed the game, I could notice two new icons on my desktop ; one titled ''Play'' and the other ''Run EB''

When I click the first one, a window pops in saying ''couldn't find steam'' while the other does nothing special.

If I try to launch the game via steam or manually, I get Vanilla TW.






Is there any way to solve this problem?

i think that you need 1.5 for rtw.exe anda 1.6 to bi.exe.

Go to your games tab in Steam and select Rome: Total War. Click on Properties in the bottom right, then select Set launch options. In the box that come up type "-mod:eb -show_err" (without apostrophes).

It doesn't work for me. I've done the launch option text but it still wont work and EB still says "Failed to find Steam". Can you tell me why and what i might have done wrong?

First: Posters say that having EB in the Program Files can give problems ... I never had any, but compounded with your using Steam, it might be doing something.

Second: Yes, make sure you're using 1.5 for Rome. You should have it already, but make sure.

Third:

Looks great, guys! Never thought EB would have blazing fast turns. One note to those still installing: Run off the old 1.1 Single Player shortcut, not the new Run Europa Barbarorum. You try the latter and it will start looking for a file. Run off the old and it will appear as EB v 1.2.

Based off this post, I'd say to open your start menu and select "Play Single Player" from the Europa Barbarorum folder.

For me EP Single Player works absolutely fine, but when I try and launch MP it fails to find steam
