You have to add the old music files into the music folder which can be found under data and the sounds.
Then you have to change the track names in the descr_sounds_music.txt file.
check this link : http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=151362
it is explained how to add new music in nr 7.

Isn't the map-screen music taken from Cesar 3?...it's been a long time since I played that was the first thing that came to mind when I heard it
I would also like to add the vanilla music just for variety but with the gold edition it's really painful to recreate the parts
Yes the campaign music is from C3, I liked that Game and while C4 was good I STILL think C3 was better, no excuse with all the tech and budget not to make C4 more in plot. They even left out the elephants? Why would they do that! talk about lazy.
Yes Spartacus and Behur, Conan, Excalibur were Great movies, but alas I fear most today are raised on Xmen and Barbarian style background elevator music in the movies. lol All the games seem to have the SAME style of music no matter the theme.
C3 rocked...played it for years but lost the CD...I think it was the first roman themed game I ever played and I still love to play those...never picked up C4 because of the mediocre or even bad reviews
What about Gladiator?...it's not as old as other movies mentioned but has an outstanding score fitting in quite well in the theme...someone even offered a minimod for the music some time ago but the thread was closed in no time...not good enough?
EDIT: @hesus: depends on the game...in the shooters I played there was no music or it had to be turned off...it just distracts from footsteps or gunfire...but in slow paced games a little musical variety is not bad to keep you entertained...I couldn't imagine to listen to the radio or something while playing as well
