Perhaps you have placed a character with the plague on the ships?

ummm first of all it is spelled lose not losse lol. Ok so do u mean that u send an army in a ship and it fights but u cant retrain? Or do u mean that u lose soldiers when your ships get attacked?

You just sail your fleet back to a port which can build that type of warship, then go to the retrain tab of the city which owns the port, and retrain them there.

In battle, people die. Same in sea battles. Ancient battle tactics consisted mostly of boarding other ships and killing or capturing the crew, or to bombard the enemy ships with artillery, like ballistas, or with archers stationed on heightened parts of the ship.
So that means that in autoresolve the AI is retarded and smacks ships into one-another, which results in dead guys.

He has a point. It's like sending chariots into battle and being suprised if when some of them are broken the guys inside are dead as well

Sail the ships back to a friendly port and retrain them in the port by going to the retrain tab in the port's respective city "scroll". You may have to sail a navy out of the port first, if both the stationed and incoming navies have admirals with command stars.

It's useful to retrain ships because they can not only defend you from naval invasions (an important asset), but they can also serve as "spies" by sailing them near the coastlines to watch for enemy army movements (especially useful around heavily contested islands).

ummm wat naval invasions? I have nvr seen the A.I. launch anything even remotely close . The biggest "naval invasion" i have seen was when Greece sent 1000 peasants to attack me at Crete.

I've had the Brutii send multiple naval invasions at me (Macedon) on an Easy campaign. And in a Briton campaign, when I had taken provinces all the way down to Narbo Martius and Massilia, the Julii constantly invaded via ship, as I had blocked the mountain pass.

You mean you loose soldiers after you loose battles on the sea? Well, they get drowned when the ships go down.

On the BI.exe (playing a mod) the AI can actually launch naval invasions... RTW.exe is utterly hopeless in that regard... At best, navies will help stop blockades and pirates...

All the more reason to ditch the even more retarded RTW.exe, and use a mod.

Or you can merge naval units like land units.

If the OP had stated that he lost guys after a battle, I would have told him that they most likely died. And yes, that you can easily retrain them or merge them. To me, it sounded more like guys were mysteriously vanishing.

well, like always, if you get a plague the only way to get rid of it is to contain the stack and let the plague die by itself.
