Default Some barbarian building pics for RS2

Ok, not sure if any of these can be used, no biggie here. Not sure who can put these in game either, but, at least theres an option to the normal RTW pics if we need them. I've given ideas in how they can used in RTW terms. We could use I, II, III, IV, V, VI, or something like that to denote upgrades if pics here or in RTW do not do the structure enough justice. There are some temple ideas in the temple thread here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=170063

    Roads:
First, level 1 roads would be a dirt path or or something like that.

Lvl 2 wooden plank roads (Celtic and Germanic):

Lvl 3 Stone roads (Celtic only):

Think Dacian 'oppida', just a smaller fortification that what the Celts used. The Murus Dacicus, historically, were built leading up to the Roman invasion. Some featured citadels but I cannot find pics of these structures:

This can be used for a beginning type of oppida or lvl 1 or 2 barbarian city level. This is a reconstruction of the Droukovice settlement.

Maybe a level 2 or 3 fortified settlement. Wooden palisade:

'Dump' oppida. A rudimentary fortification of soil dumped and piled high, hence the name. Could be used for a lvl 3 or 4 fortification for the Celts.

Reconstruction of a public water pool from Bibracte, capitol of the Aedui

    Bibracte water channels

Anvil and hammer found in Austria

    Gallic tools

    Tools of an ironsmith.

Called a messor to the Celts and vallus to the Romans. Harvesting machine used in northern Gaul. Maybe a farming bonus to the Belgae faction, and other barbarians that conquer Belgic territory.

I think it should rather be translated into better farming upgrades. It would be fine if some of the more technologically advanced Celts can build an extra level of farming compared to other barbarian factions to represent exactly this kind of technological advance.

For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

maybe it could replace those "Feudal Estates" which is the Barbs highest level of farming - it just doesn't seem to fit with our timeframe...

That sounds like a better idea.

What would replace feudal estates? The harvest machine? Apples and oranges, no?

I think it would be better to rename it. Anyway, rory is right: "Feudal Estates" sounds anachronistic to RS 2.0.

A few more ideas and historic findings for the Celts/barbs in general.

Nice view of Halstatt. The mines and discoveries are found in the hills behind he seaside resort at the water's edge

    Halstatt miner's torch

"Blockhaus"-type log building Hallstatt (Austria) 6th century B.C.

    Salt mining axe

Interment in wooden vessel from Chatenay-Macheron (Haute-Marne) 2nd-1st century B.C.

What they used to shovel salt from Dtirrnberg (Austria) 6th-3rd century B.C.

Calf-skin shoe from the salt mines of Dürmberg (Salzburg) 6th-5th century B.C.

Celts will definitely receive anything dealing with glass blowing and glass formation

    Beads of multicolored glass

    Bronze and coral jewelry

    Glass an amber beads

    Medical/Doctor items

    Surgical probes

    Woolen fabrics found at Halstatt

    Diagram of a Celtic kiln

Iron scissors and knives from La Tene

Tiled floors at Bibracte, capitol of the Aedui

All this helps give a visual aid on the economy of Celts and what their day to day things looked like.

Yay! Now my 'corduroy' roads can become a reality! Thanks Mulatto!

(course, this means RTW has to stop crashing when I put them in... *sigh*)

Did everyone see the icons that Tzar posted in the beta forum?

OOH! Pretty! Should definitely be able to use those for *something*. Did he make these for anything in particular, or just as an array? We'd still need a lot of building pics, but the icons are needed as well, and those might be more difficult anyway.

Yeah, I'll be able to use a LOT of these, excellent. He didn't get any building pictures too by chance, did he?

I was thinking of upping the civilians present in the cities, then taking a screenshot of the city at various levels of development to show city_infrastructure.

If Tone or someone who can use 3dsmax has time to render different cuts of some buildings, we could use those for workshop pictures. Hopefully someone else can focus on that, so I can focus on getting everything integrated.

Yes. Some might have to be scaled, but nbd there.

... Those look familiar... were they out of an old, bad rts a couple (or more than that) years back? The tower in the middle looks *really* familiar...

I thought they looked like the icons from one of the 'Caesar' series of games released by Sierra. They were essentially a bit like the Sim City games - with a chance of some fighting (but no aliens like Sim City).
