Icon9 Help with editing unit stats please :)

Heyy i've been playing the America's Campaign, an i think the Conquestidors (sp?) are wayy to under powered i mean there covered in plate armor and they die to easily.. could some-one please send me a edited copy of the Export Unit.txt (sorry don't know what it's called as i can't find it in my data folder) i'v tried the unpacker d/l but it didnt work so i was wondering if some-one could do it for me and edit the New Spain Units Please.

If you are willing to help (thanks Alot ) i would like the Conquestidors to have 4 hitpoints, attack power of 30 and defense as 30, same for dismounted (Both will have 50 men per unit).

The Spainish Dragoons to have missile damage of 30, melee damage 20, and armor 20, and 3 hitpoints (with 40 per unit)

The terico pikemen to have 30 damage, 20 armor and 3 hitpoints,

The Musketeers and Crossbowmen to have 30 missile and 20 melee, and 20 armor and 3 hitpoints.

And Finnaly the Bodyguard 40 Attack and Armor and 5 Hitpoints Please

I'm soo sorry if this is complicated but i cant edit the files my self cause im pretty much a noob so if you can be kind enough to help i deeply appreciate it (oh and bdw the other units can stay the same i dont use them, part from the cannons)

    Thanks in Advance

    That IS over powered!

Yeah, it is overpowered. Just put the file into your mods/americas/data folder and then right-click your shortcut to the Americas campaign and put at the end of the target line, after the quotes --io.filefirst After that is done, enjoy overpowered Spaniards! When you get sick of them, move the file out of your Americas folder. Enjoy!

Funny. I have an idea, though. Do you run Medieval II Total War from the launcher normally or from desktop shortcuts?

if u are puting the EDU file in the Americas/data folder u dont have to put anything after the shortcut path, u've simply overwritten the vanilla file.

if his America's folder is unpacked then he just needs to drop in the modded EDU and let it overwrite if he wants. other then that it will have to be set up as a seperate mod.

To make it a separate mod you have to copy your entire mods/americas folder. If it worked without adding the tag, try it without - I might have the spelling or something wrong in the tag and that is making the game freak out.

if u put it in there and the data folder is unpacked, and u overwrote the original, then u should be able to run it without altering the shortcut.

The reason that the soldiers come up as normal is because you haven't added in io file first. In your Medieval II Total War folder, look for a folder called medieval2.preference.cfg . Add this to the end:
    [io]
    file_first = true
Save and make the file read-only. This should do it. Hunter Makoy, the reason that you probably don't have to do that is that you probably already have that line in your main .cfg file.

yeah u have to have file_first for some reason. but u dont want anything written into the shortcut path. also, the file_first command has to be at the top of the file as well.

Then how come it works for me at the bottom of the file? And it does work in the shortcut as well.
