    Interesting so far.

Good debate. The think about the line-item veto is that it would really not be needed if congress didn't have so much money. Less money = Less pork. Remove the income tax and abolish deficit spending and remove all the other stupid taxes, replace them with an across the board no exceptions tariff on imports and problem solved.

I agree with the money part completely. The pure tariff on imports is way way too protectionist though. USA thrives because of trade -- this would kill it. Think Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act.

    There would still be pork.

And as of now we still need money, we have debt to pay off.

Across the board income taxes work fine, along with some taxes on gas to pay for the roads.

What do you mean by "abolish deficit spending"?
The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will, for the most part, be connected. The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State. - James Madison

Stop spending a boatload on unnecessary welfare programs, also, there already is a federal tax on gasoline for roads.

    Of course.

    But keep the line-item veto.

also, there already is a federal tax on gasoline for roads.
I know, which is how it should be (though I doubt the current tax is truly paying entirely for roads).
