Default what is the best campagn faction?

I wonder what faction is best becuase i usually start as harder ones and
fail so i wanted to see what i could do for an easier one,and i think we all
know that once youve conquered the world even with an easy faction
is a great acheivment and can build experiance for harder campaigns.......
that is why i choose to do so and anyone who has my same problem
can along with me get tips and advice from more eperianced people.

Easiest factions in my opinion are Genoa, Sicily, England and Denmark.

Start with the factions that the game lets you start with. Use them to unlock the others and you should be OK. I started with Spain and my buddy started with England. This meant that Spain unlocked the Moors and Portugal. England unlocked Scotland and France. Now you have the western portion of the campaign map familiar. Then simply work your way east.

We watched each other play and that was also a great help. I also only played the short campaigns to learn the map and opening options for the factions (sometimes only for 20-25 turns). First and one of the few completed long campaigns was with Spain also.

Also, you can post how a faction did not work so well for you -- othersw can learn from your errors and you might get some pointers for the future. Check out the AAR and consider this an option also. (I am considering doing that myself if I can come up with the courage.)

Good luck and keep us informed!

You can unlock almost all factions without a cheat (editing the descr_strat). Just win a short campaign and they are unlocked.

Easy factions are England, Milan, Spain or Portugal. Anything that start in a corner or on a island. Once your corner (island or peninsula) is secured you become rich. You can also play a migration campaign. Transfer the Russians to the British isles and they become rich and easy.

Officer to a soldier who refuses to fight: There three types of soldiers who don't have to fight. They are called KIA, MIA and POW and you are not one of them.

    Tosa will be missed.

As people have said, any of the actual "starting" factions are what you would call easy, but for me the easiest has to be England. Within the first 10 to 15 moves with England I control all the British Isles (Scotland destroyed) and Caen and Rennes on the European mainland.

If you were playing a short campaign you could really push against the French and by the time you destroy them (shouldn't take too long) you will most likely also have enough provinces to actually win... hmm :hmmm:I might try this tonight myself.

It's all a matter of what you like and what you would like to do.
Here is what you need to check.

    1- Starting position
    2- The Units they have
3- What are their strong and not so strong points
4- You nationality could play a role in the faction you choose( Teasing a bit the English Fans here)

Easiest way to learn the basics of the game are to play as England. Play slow and smart. Make well rounded armies based around defensive line of infantry protecting solid archer core with a few offensive infantry on the flanks and a selection of cavalry to hit their flanks.

    Example :

    C-C-HI-DI-DI-DI-DI-HI
    -C---A-A-A-A-A-----
    ART-----ART------ART--G-C

    C- Cavalry
HI- Heavy or offensive infantry (Billmen for example)
DI- Defensive infantry (Spearmen to start with a few shield-wearing knights mixed in later)
A- Archers (Longbows are your biggest strength
    ART- Artillery
    G- General

England plays very well with the slow and methodical gathering of land. They send in a strong force, take the region, repair and regroup, then march out for the next region. Their position is best for a single-front war, pushing south into France. Keep a good navy to keep the Portugese / Spanish and Danes off of the Isles, and turn all but Nottingham into cities. This is your financial home. 1-2 units of longbows and defensive militia with a good chivalric general is enough to hold most cities until the neighbors can come to their aid.

France and the HRE are good campaigning factions. England is for beginners, and Egypt is the England of the Middle East.

    I like France. lol
I couldn't tell. Hard to believe that name was available.

England, hands down. Secure base (once you take out the silly scots), easy-to-kill France nearby (especially if they're occupied on multiple fronts), good all-around units, and longbowmen. The only disadvantage I find with them is that as you expand eastwards you rapidly run into happiness penalties because of the distance to your capital (I never bother moving my capital, I'm lazy like that ).

Another disadvantage to England is that their cavalry lack in the power and variety of the other factions. But their strong archers and unreachable starting point more than make up for that.
    OMG it's war!
