    Default Dreadful Turkish Leaders

Why do all the Turkish leaders seem to collect traits that give them high dread? My last leader had 7 dread when he died, compared to 2 chivalry when he was my heir. Now my current leader has 5 dread and he also had 1 or 2 chivalry when he was heir. I dont really like this as my current heir has 6 chivalry and I don't want any dreaded traits for him!! (I have never executed prisoners, always released, my last 2 or 3 leaders have been camped in settlements)

High and Very High taxes causes dreaded traits (more quickly for Very High).

Fighting battles with the odds in your favor causes dreaded traits (the higher the ratio, the more likely).

Using Assassins causes your King's dread to rise (as mentioned by DrunkNIrishMan).

You might already know all of this, I'm just covering the basics.

Any of these answer your question?

I had one assassin that I used when my 7 dread leader died, and many more spies, I hardly battled with him because he was not my main general, 1 time I did kill some rebels, and my taxes were normal, and I'm, getting traits like "dreaded leader" or "malevolent leader" or "fine with blood" and "sanguinary"

Hmmm what kind of benefits do you get with dread compared to chivalry?

Dread makes enemy troops rout more quickly, chivalry makes your own troops less likely to rout.

Once you get full Dread, you can just walk your bodyguard up to a unit, and it will route.

I've won entire wars with a full dread, full command, full authority Sicilian King before.

using spies, assassins and any subterfuge generally increases dread.

as far as i know, dread is good at making the enemy rout, chivalry is good at keeping youre troops from routing.

in cities, chivalry increases population and happiness, dread keeps the populace scared, so if youre trying to grow youre castle use a high chiv general, if you want to slow youre cities growth but keep the law and order, use the dreaded man
Its not the one with youre name on it, its the one addressed to whom this may concern you have to worry about
