A few them were originally fisherman however fishing isn't nearly as easy as it use to be in Somalia thanks in part to companies taking advantage of the anarchy to perform illegal dumping.

not defending them, if all they did was make sure ships didn;t illegally dump they wouldn't be taking cruise yatchs hostage.
