    Default Anybody won as Spain?

Grand Campaign? Obviously a little late considering the advent of Empires. I normally only play England and France (it's a fascination). Your thoughts?

I don't like the "not having a pope" thingy, it removes a lot to the point of having priests IMO... One of the reasons I'm never Orthodox, muslim or pagan...

Spain does better the further into things you go. Their late units are pretty much solid.

Not only solid, deadly. If you lose first 50-100 turns for conquering iberia next steaps are easy.Is a good move from France & England to look on Spain & HRE.No longbow and stakes but javelins and pikes. You will love gunpowder age.

Only in Vanilla have I won as them, but I think that it shouldnt be too different in this game. Most of the units are the same, and the only new faction against spain directly is Aragon. Yes, their late era units are amazing and can prettymuch beat most other factions. And Spain is very different from England or France in my opinion, because 1) you have to fight against the moors instead of other catholics, and 2)your early roster is based a lot on javelinmen and javelin cavalry, with spears being a weak point, so it isn't like the other western catholic armies.

With spain your first focus will always be Iberia. Which ever power that lives there controlls it, has a good defensive position, if you first go to war elsewhere the other Iberian powers might attack you.

im ending my aragon campaign (took a month break) and i totaly surprised assaulted spain and took the whole iberian penninsula in a matter of 2-3 turns during middle game after passifing the moors. Talk about a pain starting out with what, 2 regions? everythng is on vh/vh and i have around 150 more or less turns to take 45 regions. im on top of everything (tech, bishops, money) and feel confident in winning. Try one of the iberia factions and make the impossible happen.
