Seeing as Gonzales hasn't been Attorney General for a year you're a little late...

Haters [to be read: conservatives] will find a way to complain.
They'll probably try to make a big deal about Mark Rich...
From everything I've heard he's well respected in the Justice Dept., is very capable and knows the system [Justice]...
We'll see...
Hehehehe HAHAHAHA! Hooohooohooheee! HEE HEE HEE HAAA! HO HO! HA HEE HEE HO! OH ho ho ho ho!Haters [to be read: conservatives] will find a way to complain.

Oh, seriously?

You gotta admit though, he's right.
Every person will have some sort of dirt in his past and I reckon it won't be long until this guy's dirt gets dug up. And then the anti-Obama clique will make a massive big deal out of it.
Not that it would've mattered if he had chosen someone else. A big deal would've been made out of him aswell.
And of course, the easiest argument for the really braindead would be "omg teh blacks are taking ovar".
He's a fairly solid pick; experienced, repected, and was in private practice for the Ashcroft/Gonzolez years. The skeletons in his closet are already out (the Mark Rich pardon). Obama isn't reaching across the aisle in anyway here, but if there is any part of the Executive branch that needs a clean break from the past administration it is the Justice Department.
The new AG will have the Gitmo mess on his hands, and there are no good options to sort it out. I dont think Holder will be able to find a clean solution.
Nature of politics besides I dont think there is much room to complain about digging into someones past as long as the memory of Robert Bork remains. For the sake of parity however (compared to Oswald's post after post of hatred) http://blogs.wsj.com/politicalpercep...-on-the-right/

Before we start anointing Clinton again (who all in all wasn't a terrible President barring certain abuses), I would like to address the OP. The statement that Holder was AG under Clinton doesn't lend itself a lot of weight or bearing considering that Reno was as well. Wasn't much to like about her.
In any case, Obama is assembling a cabinet with experience. I suppose there is a certain wisdom in that.

They're not the best investment these days from a long term standpoint going back. I think they are in good shape going forward. They're in the housing market. I do think their prospects going forward are very solid."

So you're saying I, someone who has argued for ideological, ethnic and religious tolerance consistently, voted Republican because I am a bigot?
This describes your arguments here perfectly: Link

You might as well just put liberal propoganda tags on all your posts really.Who would have though that Ashcroft wasted tax payer dollars putting drapes on stone boobs that it would only get worse from there. What a nightmare. What a crime against justice. The Bush Legacy for the AG is the Is Torture Boy Gonzales -- Asscroft and Mukasey are bookends -- who although absolute disgraceful in their own right -- can't touch the disgrace that is Gonzales.
I can't wait for Holder to take office.
Anyways haven't looked into him much but I am glad he didn't take Deval! Holder doesn't seem bad at all other then his opposition to the death penalty.

Good luck to President-elect Obama and his assembling of the Clinton II administration. Hopfully there will be some outreach to some non-Clinton people. btw -- I hear Frederico Pena is psuhing for an office slot (was Transportation, previously Mayor of Denver and pusher of the new airport) Hmmm -- I70 rail to the ski resorts????
Clinton was the most loved president after Washington and FDR.
